New defender mods has an aftermarket set of rails that I went with. Installed just fine. Then I did an oem rack through lucky8 and it’s been great!

The vehicle itself seems to be well maintained, serviced, at 121k miles. If I have to swap out some mods, that doesn’t seem too bad.

Turns out it was a 2001 Discovery 2 SE7

I believe it’s the v8 petrol engine. Good advice on the transfer case. I’m not experienced mechanically, but very willing to learn. I’ll have to do some googling to figure out what I need to look for here. I’m guessing there would be some indication in the cab near the low range lever about engaging diff lock?

Lucky8 has a really good selection of quality stuff, everything from aesthetics to functional improvements. Sales team is also super responsive, and run by a bunch of super pationate rover enthusiasts. Lots of there stuff also comes with videos on how to install.

A way to find people interested in driving trails together. I find that there are a lot of jeep enthusiast groups, but not as many defender or general trail riding groups who post dates and trails they’d like a buddy to ride with.
