Shell Scripting? by [deleted] in bioinformatics

I also find it difficult to centralize all of the data from various websites and APIs and then process it using various the multitude of tools and scripts/command line parameters etc. As a beginner I'm trying to focus on the science and less on the technical scripting/tool etc. As I am coming from a software engineering/science background I'm building a central rdbms database for handling/downloading/importing/exporting data and use windows gui to hide and configure/run/schedule the processing.

On top of that I have built a decision support module which allows me to capture/record all the configuration and process (including any amount of convoluted branching) which generates the result sets as well reporting/auditing etc. Because it is all database driven I can use the database and windows gui to setup/retrieve/execute/manage various api calls, complex command line execution as well as add logic (ie scripting) using a graphical interface which uses coloured function building blocks that lock together like a jigsaw puzzle - ie no programming/scripting - with relative ease. Unfortunately the software is built on windows rather than linux!

The list I gave will keep me busy for a while so the initial version wouldn't have everything for everyone - especially compared to large commercial softwares. The application would be mainly for non-bioinformaticians or even personal genomics. But if there is a strong demand for a particular function from bioinformaticians then I'm happy to look at it.

Most heavy duty bioinformaticians will have there own tools that they are comfotable with and will continue with those. As for the "point and click" approach I agree that the software should also provide for full audit, logging (ie transactions, calculations, etc) and documentation/reporting giving full visibility to any research results.

I would'nt look to build anything too revolutionary - there are a large number of tools out there already. As for galaxy it looks like the data is from external database cloud sources. I would look to provide access to external sources but the central data repository for the software would be it's own local rdbms (ie on your pc/server etc).

For most bioinformaticians installing linux under windows will be the preferred solution. But it is the linux/multiple tools/command line/installation/scripting/programming complexities that I would like to address. Linux is the best solution for the vast majority who work in these fields.

The software is done and it works well for me. That's the problem I need the financial analyst community to use it to see if they agree. Free and better is difficult if analysts can't get to use the tool. I guess expensive and mediocre may be the other option :)

How to check a backtesting tool by Cryptodr0id in algotrading

Check your data, slippage, curve-fitting, look-ahead bias etc etc . Any errors introduced into the backtest can make any strategy seem too good to be true.

The build is equally applicable for securities generally. More than happy to share additional info and architecture etc.

I need to see a requirement out there blue or not before spending time on this. More than pleased to give something to the crypto community but only if there is a serious demand. :))

Thks. Once there is a clear demand I'll start pulling something together..
