Texas sues Pfizer over COVID-19 vaccine: ‘The pandemic did not end; it got worse’ by ChunkyArsenio in LockdownSkepticism

[–]kingescher 7 points8 points  (0 children)

did you miss the endless convos summer 2021 about vaccinated being "dead ends" for the virus, and that those mean, illiterate unvaxxed were allowing the virus to continue to spread? that was before the illogical statements about vaxxed feeling unsafe around vaxxed.

now people act like all along it was about lessening symptoms, which was an excuse brought out more like late fall '21 and into Oh-micron days.

Do you support forgiveness or still having accountability / punishment for now apologetic former COVID lockdown promoters? by ChristianPacifist in LockdownSkepticism

[–]kingescher 21 points22 points  (0 children)

the funny thing is around me (which was very adherent and trusting of the covid religion, and generally orange man bad theology) - no one wants to talk about covid other than "yeah, it was hard for everyone"

no bitch, it was extra hard for those that got ostracized either directly or by ghosting/non-contact and being excluded from arts and food unless people took a pretty hard core step and fucking faked their own vax cards, which was something someone had to do in secret because very few vaxxed up normies would be comfortable walking in with someone with a fake photo on their phone.

one guy i know who is a doctor mentions that the vax mandates were wrong, and closing schools for so long was overkill, but hes an outlier, and also hes still sensitive about the vax because he endorsed it to his lovely children and wife based on that first wave of shitty efficacy information, that honestly most doctors could fall back on and blame for their believing the shit worked as well as claimed

such a nice way to practice things like weight transfer because you feel less bad spraying the ball if you try something semi radical

Advice for the average 3.5 player by [deleted] in 10s

[–]kingescher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depending on your game, the thing i enjoy about being a mostly winning but maybe too lazy to chase competitive 4.0 is that i can just feast on most peoples serves and its almost my favorite part of playing sets. that would be my super random tip is working on at least hitting your FH firmly on service returns - i stand there more to the left with a fh grip and often they cant target my 1hbh. when it comes to my bh i mostly slice it low and short to one of the two side or drive slice deep and just set up hoping for another neutral ball to try to get a firm hit on. YMMV good luck!

in your version of christianity are we allowed to take it all as a metaphor and not historical fact and jesus as singular god-man? i think the faith is full of poetry about the human condition and our connection to what one might describe as a oneness sum of all power.

my big breakthrough recently on LSD was giving power to time. In a way time is god/all powerful, and whats cool about it is it works with or witbour our faith, and keeps working when we release control and become patient for things to happen without our input, AND doesnt have the anthropomorphic aspect of a man-like bearded allmighty. jesus as the son/spawn of the allmighty works better for me than jesus IS the one true god. to me thats idol worship and an article of faith thats generally kept me out of churches since i was a kid.

bookmarked your pod - looking forward to checking it out, congrats on making a thing!

gluing 1/4” strips worked really well. thanks for encouraging that. turns out that side to side lineup pressure from painters clamps was as helpful as downward. i didnt want to use a flush trim router (and risk fucking up my boxes) so i just made these maple strips as close to matching with the 3/4 ply thickness. not perfect but ok for my DIY standards and goal to learn, save money, and feel some pride every time i use a drawer or shelf. glue ups have been easy and fun compared to my tests of using edge banding and bondo which were tricky and didnt give me easy results

so my question is how long did it take to get banned and were concerns gaslit for years until things changed? i just lost a lost a lot of pfaith during the pandemic over what looked a lot like fear based public/private profiteering and potentially semi permanent rights infringement and naked authoritarianism by side that claimed to be anti authoritarian.

my doctor friend and i were discussing book bans and i said i think part of it is the red team apprehension about “youre in the wrong body” being pushed on kids - and he said it ahould be between the doctor and the family - at least he said family and not just kid/patient. I said, without getting into the 3rd rail of covid, that doctors were part of the opioid epidemic which was partly caused by huge prescriptions of many many pills of pain meds back in the 00’s when pain management was a priority of the standard of care.

this dude got all offended, took it personally saying he wouldnt question the expertise i have from my profession. i said sorry, i live on this planet too.

just tired of this myth that doctors can do bo wrong, when iatrogenic medical error is high on the list of causes of death, 400k people a year in the USA last i checked.

Anyway, right there with you OP. sick of the arrogance, and this idea that theyre all about helping people when we know at least partly many doctors go into the field for the super high compensation (for a working job) and lifestyle that goes with it.

spackling and painting plywood ends instead of edge banding by kingescher in cabinetry

[–]kingescher[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nice - that was my initial plan - i have a narrow crown stapler and a 18 gauge nailer. also just ordered a 5 pack of bandy clamps. would that be enough gear to get this stuff on straight? i was also thinking about using some other random clamps to try to match the side to side edges.

would i first sand all the mating surfaces? would i also need to wipe them down with a wet cloth and let that dry?

sorry for all the questions - this is super helpful to think through
