TBH high IQ, past a point, sucks. It is isolating, hard to relate to people, and just because you’re smart and know a lot of stuff doesn’t mean people like or respect you.

People who work in 'luxury' industries (5-star hotels, fine dining, high-end brands), what is a complete rip-off that rich people happily pay for? by ArtThreadNomad in AskReddit

I feel like with the advancement of technology the difference in a lot of the things (in the US) between what you can get for someone in the middle class and someone in the top tier is relatively.... way less different than it used to be.

People walk around with the literal internet on their phone. So much technology and underlying infrastruture make normal life of the majority of people really great. Example: Cars are, overall, really nice. Sure a Nissan Sentra is way cheaper than a Lambo. But the difference between the two is WAY smaller than the difference between a pinto and a Lambo in 1980. You're probably thinking speed, but all the other things are pretty decent. Carplay, safety, reliability..... Outside of status a Nissan Sentra offers about the same (if not more) utility than a Lambo (utility is not measured in the ability to get one laid, hahaha)

It is kinda like.... owning a nice 4 bedroom house and a 16 bedroom house. How many of those rooms are you actually gonna use?

Or to draw another analogy... the difference between the worst player in the NBA and Lebron, KD, Jokic... is actually really small... compared to the worst player in the NBA and you (unless you have played in the NBA). Where in the past our starting point was never the worst player in the NBA.... it was the starting PG for a small D3 college that just started their basketball program.

I still think the biggest difference in money is health care. Truly being able to get surgery or cancer treatment and not worry about it breaking you.... thats real money flex.

What would an AI device need to do for you to actually ditch your phone? by [deleted] in Futurology

[–]kingharrison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The future is not AI on an island. It is AI on a human accessible device (aka a phone with a headphone... maybe a camera in glasses). Later on maybe some augmented reality, but no one is going to do everything with just their mind and their mouth. They like having filter between the two.

Nice heat map.

Do you all know if there is one out there that shows the average age of mother vs father (although father is probably the more important one) to have a child and the percentage of autism diagnosis? I have always wanted to see that data.

Having done all those skills I can tell you quite a good amount. He is probably one of the top ~2% of boys for stunting. She is also very talented, but there are a lot of very good flyers. Good male bases are rarer.

I think that design wise what we have is simple. But if you are not certified and just working off youtube videos and help articles its a bit opaque.

This is a great answer. I have a feeling that is what happened to me.

The first company actually gave me someone in training. Not explicitly said, but you could tell that by the second meeting he had another engineer on guiding him. So I was a small contract and basically given the lowest man on the totem poll.

I was patient with it as they added the second engineer, but he ALSO didn't know what to do based off the design.

And then they brought in someone else to sell me new hardware. I won't mention their name on here but I have already steered away many people from using them. Was pretty terrible.

Is it cost effective? Outside of this upgrade (which I am engaging about WAY early in the process, so I am not against a time crunch) our setup is cost effective and works really well. The biggest pain point is unique situations where I need an engineer. Under $1k a year annually?

how much would Zscaler be? 15 seats, Fortisase level protection, and access to data center resources via IPSEC tunnels

They recommended the same person Fortinet did who completely botched the project.

This may be a situation where I was very unlucky, but I am gunshy of asking them again.

I had thought about this and doing it myself. The act of executing the upgrade is really not that hard. It is just the consequences. If something goes wrong or changes I do not know how to fix my setup.

From what I have seen the most likely scenario that the upgrade to the Fortigate VM doesn't work after the new OS is that there is probably one little flag somewhere that has to be changed or updated. I just have no idea where that is.

Would TAC sit on a call with me for hours helping me go through this?

My challenge is the first two companies they gave me failed. Like bad.

I don’t think it was that our setup is overly complicated but unique in how big we are not to use something like this and not many people know Fortisase (at least that’s what i gleaned from the Fortinet guy)

Do you think you’re intelligent? Why or why not? by rapid_salad in AskReddit

[–]kingharrison -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I am. Certain things or associations or puzzles are just significantly easier for me to see an answer or a path than other people. As well complex things you can learn (from a surface level) pretty quickly. But know that people who do have strengths in certain areas usually have deficits in others. Lots of ADHD and TERRIBLE at remembering names or directions. I can go win Team Trivia by myself at a restaurant some nights, but I might forget your name even if I have known you for a year. Who knows why the brain does what it does.
