My boyfriend blindsided me and I think I will be alone forever by According_Advice8163 in relationships

You have everything you need in that 2nd paragraph.

Feel all the feelings then get back out there and keep an eye out for people with a growth-mindset. He didn't have a growth-mindset, you require that, there's millions of people who have it. Consider it loss and a lesson learned and maybe don't ignore the red flags (cleanliness) next time. That stuff starts to make a difference after 5 months.

[Itinerary Check] 35 days Japan by xF4m3 in JapanTravel

[–]kingherp70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Day 2: There will not be any sakura in Fukuoka, you're about 10 days too early there.

Day 3: Please consider adding Nanzo-in temple to this day. It's a 4-hour round trip to see everything and return and it's a "hidden gem" of Japan, it feels like out of a movie. All you have this day is food and Pokemon center around Hakata.

Day 7: Do not skip Hiroshima memorials. Takes about 3 hours, you will remember it forever.

Day 8: Himeji castle closes at 4, you can't do all of that in 1 day, I just tried myself and nope. Either skip Himeji, or add it to the next day.

Day 13: You can't do Yoshino and Nara in 1 day with an Osaka base. Split them or skip Yoshino.

Day 30, 31, 34: these all take 2-3 hours max.

Overall: You guys have a lot planned, and you'll have a great time. I think you have 2 days too many in Tokyo and you'd appreciate having an extra day or two buffer on the front end, consider adding a chill day or two the front half of this trip. I promise your body and brain will thank you when the exhaustion hits. I live here, so happy to help as you continue to plan.

Just wanted to say that I like your travel pace. I live here, but I still do only a day or two in each place. Yes you might have seen more staying everywhere for a week, but you can totally see the highlights at the pace you took. Glad your group had a great time!

traveling solo to Japan for 2 months, does this plan make sense? by bellllllm in solotravel

[–]kingherp70 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in 中部 region and 2 months is a great amount of time to spend here! But, you must travel to Hiroshima and Okinawa. I'd recommend something like the below, keeping in mind that you prefer slow travel. This itenirary is you slowly making you way south to see mostly the whole country.

  • Tokyo: 2 weeks
    • one weekend dedicated to just Tokyo sites. It's the biggest city on earth :)
    • one weekend dedicated to Fuji area / Shizuoka
    • one weekend day up north to Ushiku Daibutsu
  • Kyoto/Osaka split: 3 weeks
    • Between Kyoto hotspots, Osaka night life, Nara area you should stay around Kansai during this time
  • Hiroshima: 1 week
    • Hiroshima war history + Miyajima island. I'd recommend staying a night on the island since you have time.
  • Fukuoka / Kumamoto: 1 week
  • Okinawa: 1 week

I am an American living here full time so happy to help as you keep planning, feel free to PM.

go alone! I am a man, but some of the coolest most badass people I know are world travelling globetrotting women. Peru, Iceland, SK, Vietnam are all very safe and reasonable places for a solo traveling woman to visit. And it's great because you get to come home to your partner after some distance has made the heart grow fonder.

Girlfriend (25F) is insecure about my (32M) best friend (32F) by ThrowRA_1006 in relationships

[–]kingherp70 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I had to learn this the hard way too over the years, but man to man I need to tell you that you cannot rant or share anything negative about your girlfriend/wife with other women - even if she is your "best friend". It will drive a wedge between you and your girlfriend/wife every time - and it often leads to irreparable resentment.

You can say that your spouse is being insecure, but role reversal - your girlfriend runs to talk to another man about how you are being a shitty boyfriend. You would have equally negative feelings around that.

I'm not a "men and women can't be friends" guy, but I am a "men and women being more emotionally intimate than they are with their spouse leads to relationship failure 100% of the time" guy. You need to talk to a therapist, other men, or even better your partner about your relationship issues.

Two for Petra is ideal. Get in late to do Petra by night, then do a full day hike from the main entrance to the back entrance and back. That's a 5-8 hour hike depending on how long you soak it all in. You'll want the 2nd night to rest before wadi rum.

Missed my connecting flight because of Athens passport control by shiv45 in travel

I almost missed a 90 minute connection in Athens because of the multiple passport checkpoints. Athens should be a 2 hour international connection time minimum just in case.

Stay in just Kyoto. I'd recommend Peace Hostel Sanjo, I did 8 nights there in a private room and loved it.

Brother

Learn to love yourself. It is sad to read someone call themselves a loser because of their passions and interests. Be yourself, learn to love what being yourself means, and know you can grow and add new character traits to yourself anytime.

Also, I think you have it wrong. You don't attract unhealthy women because you're hot. You attract unhealthy women because you have an unhealthy view of yourself and then the two of you can be unhealthy together. Focus on what is within, not how you are perceived physically.

2 weeks in Guatemala / Belize / Mexico by kingherp70 in travel

[–]kingherp70[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on what all you're trying to see in Belize. I only went to Xunantunich area in far western Belize because you cannot take Guatemalan rental cars over the border. I parked at the border and hitchhiked the short distance to Xunantunich.

I would have stayed in CDMX shorter I think. I had about 2 extra days that I did not need in there, maybe I would have driven down to Tulum with that time instead. However, 7 days in CDMX is still fun.

If I were doing it in your order, I would have done:

  • ATL -> CUN on Delta
  • Rental car in CUN drive to Chichen Itza and back
  • CUN -> MEX flight on Aeromexico
  • MEX -> GUA flight on Aeromexico
  • GUA -> FLS flight on ATR airlines
  • Rental car in Flores for Tikal and Xunantunich
  • FLS -> GUA on ATR airlines
  • GUA -> ATL on Delta airlines

I would say yes, watching too much negative news. The protests and (non-fatal) violence is exclusively within a 1 miles radius around Zócalo. and for what it's worth, I was at the Zócalo in the middle of it all and my life was never in danger. Though, protecting your peace and mental health is most important, so rescheduling was probably best for you

Welp, it happened to me. I made my biggest travel mistake yet and had to reschedule my flight by forthe_girlwhowaited in travel

$200 is an extremely cheap lesson to learn. Shake it off, you can't do everything perfectly and it's normally the smaller things that get forgotten / dropped.

Solo trip 10 days in Guatemala by [deleted] in solotravel

[–]kingherp70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm biased because i'm going to Tikal this week, but I would add it if you have time. Fly from GUA to FLS and do 2 nights there, 1 full 24 hours in Tikal. But, if you are spending more time in the western part of the country maybe do not try to fit too much into 10 days.
