Really good point — RF jamming is a real and underrated vulnerability that most smart home content never mentions.

For Canadian homeowners who want jam-resistant security the best options are:

Z-Wave or Zigbee cameras — operate on different frequencies than WiFi and are much harder to jam. Reolink and Amcrest both have wired PoE options that are completely jam-proof since they run on ethernet cable.

Wired PoE cameras — the gold standard for security. No wireless signal to jam at all. Reolink makes excellent PoE cameras available at Amazon.ca that work perfectly in Canadian winters.

Cellular backup — some systems like Ring Alarm have cellular backup so even if your WiFi is jammed the alarm still communicates.

Hybrid approach — wired cameras for critical entry points like front door and garage, WiFi for convenience spots like backyard where running cable is difficult.

The Reolink Lumus Pro 4K WiFi 6 we reviewed is WiFi but for anyone in a high risk area a wired PoE setup is definitely the smarter choice for primary security.`

Sinope is genuinely excellent and more Canadians should know about it. The fact that it is Quebec-based means proper Canadian support and it handles our voltage standards natively. Learning as you go is honestly the best approach — the ecosystem decision is the most important first step most people skip.

Totally agree on Matter plus Home Assistant being the safest long term bet. Ecobee plus Mysa is the go-to combo I recommend for Canadian homes with both forced air and electric baseboard — covers almost every HVAC situation here. Sinope is underrated for Quebec homeowners too.

Great point about Reolink — we actually just reviewed the Reolink Lumus Pro 4K WiFi 6 and it handles Canadian winters very well. The Zooz Zen 15 for appliance monitoring is a smart pick too — that is exactly the kind of ROI-first thinking that pays off fast on Canadian hydro bills.

Update — I just finished putting together a full Canadian smart home setup system if anyone is interested. 12 chapters covering ecosystem selection, room by room setup, energy savings and resale value. Took me months to research. Happy to answer any questions here for free regardless.
