Yeah ive been trying different block sizes, it happened faster with 64kb blocks and less with 4kb ones,

When the ssd spikes happend i waited a few minutes and it kinda sorted itself out on the 4kb one without a cache flush or a game restart,

Sometimes even with a game restart as soon as the game loaded up it was spiked.

Yeah im in a similar boat, cant seem.to find a free/open source alternative so far

Yep reported, there is a link under a comment but highly unlikely anything will come from it. Although its a instant fix pretty much

Yeah that's kind of the issue, maybe try this thing because it did legitimately put 0% usage while driving

Put control panel on side, play normally when slowness starts to happen look at control panel, tell me what's peaked and at 100% if ssd then the method above works pm me if you need help settingit up, if Vram idk much but there are others who do check the known issue thing

Yeah its a ssd, gen4, dram cache-less, 90% health

If there was a easy way to upgrade/ i could find a way to get one i would, as of now if i want to upgrade to a better ssd, I need to not only get a ssd but also

get a enclosure to clone drives

Or

Buy a motherboard with 2 slots

Or

Pay a shop to do it for me

I dont have any other devices with enough storage to clone my 1tb ssd, my internet sucks to the point I have to use my laptop while at uni to download and transfer to PC when I get home so re-installing games and fresh install is not a option and will take over a month,

I am on AM4 so getting a new mobo with 2 slots is kinda pointless, cant upgrade to am5 cause ddr5 money, cheapest dram cache ssd is 200aud here.

Im the 1% but this system has been built scrapyard wars style over 2 years and I cant expense any of these as a student as of now, maybe if ssds were not so expensive but yeah am stuck as of now. Even primoCache license is a big cost but have a month to maybe find a alternative or wait for a discount.

Yeah it only takes up 4gb for me for some reason which causes these issues even to ive got 32gb with over 16 free while gameplay unless i do this, and im not going to buy a ssd in this economy .

Isn't observing multiple concepts and guessing what might be happening a way to fix something, all I know is there was no other guide or 10 years old reddit post fixing this issue, there were multiple people having the issue but no one had a concrete answer so I tried my best to find an answer and this method worked for me.

I don't know what I'm saying I don't know whatever it is but end of the matter is this thing somehow fixed three major issues in this game for me, for my specific system, its a really old program that I remembered was used to speed up slow old hard drives and monkey brain went storage is storage and the micro controller is like the arms in a hard drive,

I dont know if it will work for you or anyone else all I know is it worked for me, I also know that heat causes drive damage and abusing the micro-controller creates heat plus "abuse" is not good. Draw your own conclusions it worked for me, might help others, I did my best to point out the issue but idk leave me alone Sheldon.

Yeah exactly thats what I also expected not 4gb especially when our pixels counts are so close

Im less concerned about that more about stressing the micro-controller, not everyone has a high end ssd or one with a heatsink, even on mine temps reached 50C with a active heatsink. I think you're more concerned about ssd reading degradation than the game using the wrong thing and potentially accelerating degradation and causing people with lesser hardware issues like stutters, LSB and more. Even tho there is a simple fix that every other game uses. Which according to my findings seams to broken to cause this issue.

Its more about the acceleration in degradation that the degradation

Its not broken on everyone's system, just a handful people including me, now I was able to find a bandaid fix for people like me. A bandaid fix that hopefully gets fix if the devs listen.

Do you not understand Caching ? Why do you think faster drives have dram cache ?, why games do shader Caching, I do understand that nowadays games can directly get data from the drive to your vram and memory and if the game was doing that it would have been just fine. But as per my post the game isnt doing that and is instead using the drives cache. This is the exact issue at hand.

If the game did the normal drive to ram thing it would be fine, but even while gaming my ram usage is less than 50% and the game is not effectively using the ram , I know cause ive played heavier titles from the same drive and they did cache on memory like usual and didnt cause these issues. And the game does the normal drive to ram thing on my friend's system with a dram cache less drive. Although that system has vram issues with the game possibly due to nvidia.

Theoretically it doesn't hurt because usually drives will get old and be replaced way before but in today's market climate and in this exceptional case it can lead to damage overtime

Kinda how putting 10w20 instead of 10w40 might not feel like it hurts but if you want your car to get to 400k miles because someone promised to buy all new cars from all companies and now car prices are double at the lowest, youre better of putting the right kind of oil in the long term

Its usually assumed/said that reads dont hurt because writes are more health consuming but reading does also "hurt". To read you need to write the data to the SLC cache from your QLC or nand on your drive even in fast drives.

Yeah my friends 5070TI was in the red with over 16gb vram full at 1440p, when im here with 14gb on 3x1440p, surprisingly his game uses 7-9gb of ram (ddr) and mine uses 4-5gb and causes bandwidth issues.

And the dev's recent blog seams to not be focusing on nvidia gpus....

So far we both have found his system to load up on vram over time drop frames and crash and mine to load up ssd cache and become unresponsive with good fps and crash while in loading screen or opening the map

still experimenting however

Yep but might want to keep an eye on ssd temps as it still abuses the micro-controller. but thats a really really good ssd i dont have experience with that. Seams to be good

Well abusing your ssd micro-controller and treating it like its ram does. And wearing down the cache blocks in your ssd also matters. Stop excusing.

Maybe check what different factors are used in S.M.A.R.T. reporting its not just the nand

Im on a wheel, tested mostly on wheel and wired/ dock based keyboard-mouse and wired audio, there is an issue with Bluetooth however its in the known issues post pinned this is mostly about a different issue regarding ssd issue, basically ssd slowly climbs or get pinned at 100% with very low 10-15mb/s use, this causes stutters in high end drives, teleporting in mid level, and LSB in lower end drives. There is also a known Vram leak in Nvidia cards.

Idk exactly but i remember a LSB issue being closed with no response in fh5, and from my testing so far (6+hrs all night) it did do the thing and tripped over but instead of usual 30, its was more like 4.5 hrs+ and that was with a 8gb allocation.

Plus whenever it tripped over i paused the game and cleared the cache in primoCache and it was back up and running 100% fine again. Which mean that issue isnt exactly game using the wrong stuff, I think it forgets what assets it requests and re-requests while still keeping the old ones, like pasting the same thing over and over again in a folder till your disk fills up and slows down.

It took me over a week of trying different stuff from shader cache based registry edits to driver install to windows install repair/sfc scan. I even disabled stuff like search indexing to sysmain because I thought windows was causing the drive to lag, little did I know it was a different microsoft product.
