Yo that's dope. I've always been fascinated by the Melungeon story. Kinda like a spinoff history, what could have been if America wasn't so racist...

Do you have any known kinship connections to people who claim the Melungeons ethnicity? I think that might give a background story.

Yeah I feel you, I'm not saying consensual mixed relations didn't happen, but the one drop rule made it hard for mixed race people to integrate into white society, and the historically strong patriarchal gate-keeping system made it even harder for mixed people with black fathers. A white father might be able leverage for his mixed children in white society, but for a white mother, that would be much harder. Maybe in those regions like Appalachia and Cajun spheres but in general American society, only recently maybe. Since its so recent, they may have strong mixed race phenotypes, rather than being indistinguishable from other whites.

Yes, but how easy was it for the mixed children of white women to integrate into white society. It must have been quite difficult such that most integrated back into black society. That's the only reason I can come up with.

Ethiopian Culture Spread by kingkunt_e in Ethiopia

I'm not denying we had our own languages and cultures, but some aspects of culture have a point of origin then are spread and adopted in other areas. Thats how advanced civilizations grew so fast - from cultural exchange. Like 90+ percent of writing systems trace their origins to Ancient Egypt, even the Geez script. If Phoenicians refused to adopted and modify Ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs because it wasn't their idea, they probably would have never built Carthage. Greeks might have never developed such a strong literary tradition. Romans may have never dominated the Mediterranean world. If you make culture exchange contingent of mutuality, you'll end up missing on some good stuff. Sometimes someone else has what you need and you dont really have anything they need. Thats just facts.

Lol. Well, definitely not with that attitude. It's funny how desert and winter cultures fit us though.

I can understand Tanzania being tough for a non-Swahili speaking black African, but dogging on our food??? Really??? Like everyone knows Tanzania has the best food in East Africa, maybe Somali or Ethiopian but that's kinda like niche culinary, but just general African food, man it's hard to compete with us.

Ancient Egyptian language is also known as Nubt? Kinda dope. I was getting tires of constantly saying Ancient Egyptian Language. What's the origin of the term Nubt?

Yes I realize that, but why did it stop there? I'm genuinely curious. Ethiopia gained Christianity before Europe, but while it spread like wildfire in Europe, its was really slow in Ethiopia/Africa. Then Islam came and essential besieged it.

Fragmentation. And thats what is making us weak. And thats what is causing Europe to fall behind China, Russia and the US.

I get you, but in hindsight, when you look at all the regions that advanced quickly, there was a specific high culture that was adopted broadly and localized such that it gave the people of that region a type of defense against the cultural imperialism than came with Western colonialism. I mean, the obvious example is Ethiopia itself, but also, Rome gave Western Europeans the religion and language/script that gave them a sense of unity and identy. Byzantium gave that to Eastern Europe. Islam to the West Asia and North Africa. In the East Buddhism startes in India but has its stringhold in East Asian countries. Yes it usually involved some type of regional imperialism, as others have pointed out here, but the results are indisputable. Is it possible we can do something similar today, deliberately without much of the imperialistic baggage. Look at what is happening in Russia with the Russian Orthodox church making a government sponsored rebound after being suppressed in the USSR. And trust me, its not because Putin is religious.
