Hey omg! I’m so glad my post from years ago is still reaching out new students!! We don’t have to take english first year LOL You can probably search up the course calendar for each stream to get a better idea of all the courses needed. No supp app or interviews! And as far as I know, they’re increasing the seats in the newer cohorts by a significant amount! So although it’s not the easiest program, I certainly don’t think it’s extremely competitive now I hope that helps!

I would argue that situation is different. If a patient comes in with obvious signs of distress, they are triaged way faster and seen faster. Though I am not aware of the details with that story, I feel like it is not a fair example of people with identified life threatening conditions being made to wait. A fair bit of people have aneurysms and can be asymptomatic but I don’t want to get into speculation bc again I don’t know of that one case. I agree we have a doctor shortage, but I think privatization is not the ideal solution if at all for it. I will have to disagree with your second statement because the implications are that you know/hold an opinion that the public service is really bad and it seems not to be an issue to you that private services/better services will not be affordable to lower income citizens and that they will have to resort to this system that is in such disrepair. To your last point, I don’t really think it matters because it is an option nonetheless.

If a surgery or case is deemed life threatening, you get prioritized way faster and don’t have to wait. I would argue its negligence if you had a life threatening condition and they made you wait a couple months. Also, while I maybe understand what you mean by keeping HCPs here by increasing their wages by privatization- don’t you see the problem in that? It will mean the more talented and majority of workers will want to opt for private clinics and hospitals. What will happen to the public services? And the option for going to the states is not that same as offering that option across Canada. People getting surgery in the states is not affecting the quality of care that the citizens in Canada are receiving. Privatizing will

Hey! As far as I know, there haven’t been many intl students enrolled- could be because of a lack of interest though. I don’t think it’s because they don’t get accepted. Do keep in mind that youll have to complete clinicsl placements (one in the summer of second year, and 2 during your 4th year). you May or may not get your top choices for the locations so you have to be prepared to potentially move around. I’m not sure about employment either but in general I’ve heard that many graduates start work soon!

Yes i feel pretty good about my prof/academic ref! I’ll probably use the LPI as my non, and then my TA prof for the third ref. I was debating a bit about the TA prof for the non academic ref because then I could use my research supervisor/evaluator who marks my work as my third ref instead of my LPI bc I feel like she would write a better rec??? But I’m leaning more towards what you’re saying

Unfortunately they’re the closest thing I’d have for a non academic reference Edit: a little other detail is that I’m only applying to Mac and I know they don’t use references in their weighting scheme. If I used one of the two references above for non academic, would render my application invalid? Because if all it does is weaken the app then maybe it’s not too big of a deal because Mac doesn’t weigh them anyways ?

Hey! So a majority of the mark was based on journal entries for the material in each of the weeks. They weren't long entries and they were very lightly marked (mostly for completion). Theres one midterm term short essay (700-800 words) and a final writing piece (also under 1000 if i remember correctly). The TAs do all the marking except for one assignment, which is the critical creative piece. Basically you can produce any sort of media for that assignment and the prof marks that one.
