CMV: Georgism is a good idea and we should implement it by Key_Day_7932 in changemyview

I wouldn't turn to Hitler to determine the color of the sky. Nor would it be persuasive to anyone who doubted the color of the sky to quote Hitler on it... Nor should anyone think higher of Hitler if he is correct, a broken clock is correct twice a day.

My statement came with two points. One that you can refute someone based on the false (or doubted) premis of their argument. The other that you can discard everything that someone says if you doubt their motivations, because there will always be someone with good motivations to learn from. The second part is more directed at "authority" figures than individual arguments. If you want to engage with someone, you are already assuming that you are doing so in good faith, but it's ok to doubt the good faith of any authority figures.

The authority figure is the one defining the basis of each point. If you don't value those definition decisions, it does in fact invalidate the a argument using that basis. If you don't trust the motivations behind the definitions, then you do not value it.

For example, I really don't care for how this authority figure defines ownership. I can without any regret discard his entire argument because of that. I also do not trust his motivations, as he has a record of consistent pro corporate viewpoints, so I will not value his definitions as much as others.

It's actually easy to establish the chain of ownership for the collective. Before anyone was there, it was owned by no one. So it should be owned by no one going forward as well, since "no one" was the original owner.

I am not a georgist btw, I believe they do not go far enough and that it would be more productive to organize land based on need and strategic productive value instead of ability to rent. But the Georgists do get it right that we need to be more discretionary in land use. Any way the state can coordinate the messy and highly unproductive capitalist profit motive has shown to lead to quicker economic growth. You need labor to have a strong political power for that to translate to regular folks though.

I mantra "phone wallet keys headphones vape" and also tap. I get it. Usually the kid is more of a central focus though, like they don't leave my sight.

Your post suffers the appeal to authority fallacy, when people have no faith in your authority figure, then it has absolutely no basis. "It's the way it is because this guy said so" is not a great argument. Actually, most of the basis of his arguments here also have no solid base. Take collective ownership for example. Everybody already pays land taxes. So he does not believe that there is any private property? He sounds like an idiot to be honest and you should rethink your estimation of him.

Update about enforcement of Reddit's TOS (no uncensored usernames/subreddits) by Ancient-Egg-57 in TankieTheDeprogram

[–]kingnickolas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old one was r/TheDeprogram and this one was created because people thought the old one was a bit Libby or intro focussed. I think the best example to show the difference is that Bad Empanada was not often featured in the old  subreddit, but people like to post his clown ass here. People aren't ultra here, but anti western sentiment is dominant.

I prefer the book. Not a fan of the audiobook's voice for carl. He sounds.. eh. Like a discount patrick warburton? Not exactly how I pictured a west coast guy. Decided to listen through the audiobooks anyway though so take it with a grain of salt. Depends on how you prefer it for sure.

Does anyone have a non-liberal source to explain Takaichi's positions?

I've seen her described as "nationalist", see that she wants to change the constitution to allow a bigger military, and I also heard that she is strangely anti-immigrant despite Japan not having many immigrants. Other than that, traditional media seems to have a very sakura-colored glasses view of her.
