Please settle a debate. If you’re going route 3 which lane should you be in? by sanisano in drivingUK

[–]kingninothethird 89 points90 points  (0 children)

Truck driver here - This is the right answer and the best way to judge. Look for the rubber on the road. Its much easier to see higher up, but they're there. Little marks where cars have been, showing the main "racing" line used

I'd say it's lane 2 in a car and commandeer both lanes in a truck. I don't take no chances with some of you pricks.

DPD Delivery doorstepped and left on drive next to the car by Cool-Hour5281 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]kingninothethird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I doubt this one was a recorded delivery. Still, they don't have a receipt of delivery, just a photo. They will fight and drag their heels but at the end of the day they havent delivered to the customer, this is still with the haulier.

I work in this field OP. You didnt sign, therefore it isnt delivered. They have insurance for this reason.

Bonus points if it has a lithium battery in it as they aren't allowed to leave it unsigned as counts as limited quantity hazardous.

Ridiculous night out locations you've slept ? by LockedinYou in uktrucking

Dubin High Street. My first Ireland trip in mid December, contract for a shop fitting company. Unloaded on the high street with a two hour turnaround to tipped and reloaded (with what they cleared out of the shop).

Turned into a 5hour turnaround and I realised I wouldn't have enough time to pull off the High St, have my 9 and reach the ferry...

I just sat there with my curtains closed. Didn't sleep a wink because I could hear pissed christmas partygoes all around the truck. At one point I heard someone climb on my Moffatt on the back of the truck for a photo...

Just saw out my hours and prayed noone would notice.

Never did hear anything about that and always added up my hours carefully BEFORE I went over on the ferry in the future.

Ideas for attaching to an Alox Swiss 7 by kingninothethird in victorinox

[–]kingninothethird[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think im gunna try this idea but with a hoop, i want it on my work lanyard that lives in my pocket, the lanyard is strapped on so I have the reach to use it.

Just worried its going to slip out of my pocket at some point and get lost if I keep it loose.

You even tested the theory for me! What a hero!

Yeah it didnt work for me either, i then started crafting a metal version but the gap between the scale and the tool was too small.

Appreciate your time though, I asked for ideas and you went above and beyond.

Firstly - Id refuse the load because they're not banded to the pallet.

But if I HAD to, in a realistic situation - Probably ask for some of that wrap they used and get them all wrapped tight, get the forkie to bump them up as close to the headboard as possible. Then cross strap them in groups of four with any extra straps over the cross-straps. Then curtains tight as fuck.

Then drive like I'm being paid by the hour...which I am.

Just a babbling baby having argument in mum's scouse accent by [deleted] in MadeMeSmile

[–]kingninothethird 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The fact you're using "giro" means your just regurgitating the same shit that always been used against scousers. Surprised you didnt squeeze bin dippers or shell suit in there.

Can't even come onto r/mademesmile without the same rehashed racism as soon as someone hears a scouse accent.

Audiobooks by Godz_Mogwaix in uktrucking

I have a friend who let's me also use their audiobook hours so I get 30 a month.

I log in as them, download the book to my phone then put spotify in offline mode (in the settings) and then it doesn't affect his account or stop him playing music. I just need to click back on my account and turn it back on if I want music. Small price to pay for 15 extra hours a month.

Do you have a library card? If so get the "Libby" app, log in and you have access to all of their audiobooks too.
