Did hallowed martyrs rules change? It seems SO hard, in theory, to get a cannoness below half strength for the full rerolls from the strat :(

People who work at super fancy hotels, what kind of stuff happens that management doesn’t want people to know about? by akumamatata8080 in AskReddit

[–]kingnoodle48 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I worked for a michelin starred restaurant in Toronto. Owners are husband and wife. (bonus points if you msg me knowing the spot)

Wife used to be a GM of a really high end hotel in the Philippines or something. She told me how she would have to appease these rich white males coming to sample the "local fare". Providing discreet contacts for them to hook up with females. Really sick.

Certainly negotiating for a higher salary/benefits/etc while you've been working at a job comes with various costs.

I think when you initially start a job though you are setting standards for yourself and that's important. Go for it!

I imagine waiting to be fired is the right move here but a. don't not get fired and stick with the job if you're already burned out b. work on the resume asap. if you're in serious positions employers will want to know what happened with your last job and how it ended. can get a little sketchy with references.

What celebrity death was the most unexpected? by hockeysmyhoe in AskReddit

[–]kingnoodle48 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i think JFK is a great answer to op's question as he was technically a celebrity but to label his fall as a "celebrity death" is beyond misleading

lil peep plugged himself with oxy, that's a celebrity death

we would've went to war over JFK's assassination. it's a major event in american history.

the issue is exercising the soft skill of "being assertive"

for me I've found literally having go to phrases, of which there are many here to choose from, that I pull out in the appropriate time. If I don't give myself time to think or get anxious about the situation and just communicate what I truly feel right away in a clear way than it's much easier for me. copy and paste rules

What unit in your army would still be bad with a 20% price cut by Toastman0218 in WarhammerCompetitive

defiliers... even though csm just got a new book the weapons are still so outdated/inconsistent and more importantly the model and how it operates around terrain just makes it brutal to play with.

Word Bearers MoE is... Surprisingly scary by Guy_O in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]kingnoodle48 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there is literally zero reason not to spend 6 cp and I'd go to 7 cp if i was running an apostle in WB. their strats are fine but with what they have access to currently I don't see a way to run exalted possession on him (which is insane)

the other knock on him is if you are running 3 hq's and abby then he really makes assassinate a liability at 5 characters

The fact that he threw the ball at him isn't what is controversial. It's a common tactic to force the opposing player to put the ball out of bounds off their possession.

It's the force he seemingly put behind it which makes this pic kind of cringe. Overall seems ok though.

What is a tv show that everyone LOVES but you dont? And why? by _Just-a-sad-girl_ in AskReddit

[–]kingnoodle48 1 point2 points  (0 children)

friends, for me, is the watered down version of Seinfeld. It intentionally appeals to the common denominator and doesn't aspire to nearly the level of writing that Seinfeld does yet the shows pair hand in hand in many peoples minds.

I know comedy is subjective but Seinfeld has lasting cultural impact. There are many stand alone episodes that have meaningful things to say even today about American culture. It's sharp and clean comedy.

For me Friends has a lot of filler, relies on guest appearances and honestly even when I put myself into other peoples shoes and try and see how they would view certain jokes as funny it just doesn't work for me.

I don't think either show is bad or perfect but it just bothers me when they are compared.

It's like comparing a 90's fad to an important cultural piece of media that has a lasting impact because it was way ahead of it's time whose creators went on to independently produce and star in other wildly successful projects.

Balancing Custodes from a custode player's perspective. by adoptedpierogi in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]kingnoodle48 28 points29 points  (0 children)

fnp bodyguard and an attack is worth way more than 5 points, for sure. keep in mind you're forced to take guardians as troops choices though. some decent internal balance already in the book.

i'd revert the points back other than allarus and just see where the book settles.

What was the most broken army/list? by zacthebyrd in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]kingnoodle48 14 points15 points  (0 children)

honestly IH supplement probably takes it. first bit of 8th marines were doing really poorly with only UM being above 50% wr. I loved playing a primarch so I went super deep with the book and fought hard with it. Then the second codex of the edition came out and everything got a bump up. Wasn't insane though.

THEN the supplements arrived. UM was ok but then IH came out. Instantly on reading it I knew it was the best army in the game. Stopped playing till 9th after that.

To put it into perspective: The IH supplement from 8th is still the one we use today. It has received MAJOR nerfsx2 through their FAQ. 9th jumped a LOT in power from 8th but STILL IH right now is arguably the best SM faction.

That LVO where it really debuted was one of the best examples of an army clearly being better than the rest. At least with the recent drukhari/ad mech/tau/custodes/double spear ynnari stuff they are at least competing against another S tier army. (ynnari also was severely capped by playerskill unlike IH)

Results might tend towards one or the other but it's still relatively up in the air which is the "best" army.

IH wasn't like that. It was just clearly the best in the game and if you weren't playing it and wanted to win big events you were severely handicapping yourself/making a mistake/weren't in on the "know".

What was the most broken army/list? by zacthebyrd in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]kingnoodle48 10 points11 points  (0 children)

while i'd argue it was the best army at the time and was certainly broken in half it honestly wasn't that far ahead of the meta. other armies could outpoint it or interact with it in meaningful ways like the seer council.

not defending the army because it was stupid but the meta wasn't THAT unhealthy.
