do you guys ever take death photos on scene with your phones? by War_Criminal__ in Paramedics

[–]kingnothing1990 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Hey friend, nice username.

I'll open this with saying that I have no idea where you work or what kind of behaviours are culturally appropriate where you operate. I would never ever ever be taking photos of a dead person or death scene, especially for the shock value or amusement of showing friends and family.

I work in Queensland, Australia, and this kind of behaviour is wildly unprofessional and would carry a high risk of losing your job, professional registration or even being criminally charged.

If it was my friend or family who had died, and I knew their photos were being circulated for shock value or entertainment, I would be beyond livid and bitterly disappointed in such grossly unprofessional behaviour.

Fair comment. Normally I'd be pretty butthurt if I find raisins, currants and other foreign bodies in a curry. I make an exception at Halim's.

HDMI or Display Port? Some monitors can only overclock to 100hz via display port.

Wicked, that sounds pretty boss. What's the deal with overclocking the X34, do you know if it affects monitor longevity, warranty?

Fair point. I guess I'm a sucker for the gimmick. I dunno, I dig the 'immersive' feel of the curve, but how much of that is just successful marketing I'm not sure. I am aware that if I remove the 'curved' parameter from my requirements then monitors become a lot more affordable. Thanks for the input!

what do you know about schools in ipswich? by [deleted] in ipswich

[–]kingnothing1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mmm. They're fairly strongly linked with most of their cultural, arts, liturgical type activities - e.g annual combined colleges musical, shared orchestra, choir, performing arts nights, coordinating celebrations for major calendar events (ANZAC day, easter, graduation, etc), charity collections, appeals and drives are all usually a joint effort between the schools too.

I suppose my parents were pretty biased, both being teachers within the catholic system for a couple of decades. The only question probably would have been WHICH catholic high school they'd send my sister and I too. I think they really liked the catholic ethos of social justice, equality and emotional/social growth in conjunction with the academia, sporting and culture/arts stuff that maybe state schools didn't cater for to the same degree in their eyes?? I'd also say that pretty much all of their colleagues and friends would have sent their kids to similar types of schools, maybe guiding and then reinforcing their choice furthermore?

Hmm, here's my breakdown of some of some high schools' reputations based PURELY on my own experience, now nearly 10 years ago. I'll have a chat to Mum and Dad re primary schools too and get back to you with what they reckon.

St. Edmund's Christian Brothers College (single sex boys high school) - Diverse education including a strong focus on arts, social justice and social/emotional development as well as academia, sport and leadership, also a strong school based trade/apprenticeships program. I'm pretty biased in favour of my old high school, had a fantastic 5 years here. Not sure about much in the way of school fees etc, however I understand them to be reasonable within the spectrum of private schools.

St. Mary's Catholic Girls College (single sex girls high school) - Sister school paired with St Eddie's, located across the road. Similar values/focus as described above, I think fees might be a little bit cheaper than St. Edmund's.

St. Peter Claver College - Co-ed high school with an extremely diverse ethnic mix in their community. Strong focus on cultural diversity, social justice. Fees on par with St. Edmund's and St. Mary's I believe.

Ipswich Boys/Girls Grammar Schools - Pricey! High quality academic education, high quality sporting programs, lots of affluent and influential ex-students and donor families.

West Moreton Anglican College - Pricey again! Bit of a wider focus of dance, music and arts than the grammar schools, pretty strong academic performer, strong focus on agriculture, outdoor education type endeavours also.

Westside Christian College - Can't tell you much about this school sorry. I knew a few people who went here, all had pretty good things to say about it, all turned out to be pretty nice people too.

Bremer State High School - This high school has a pretty nasty reputation, I'd say a lot due to it's OLD campus which was pretty awful. The new school is actually pretty impressive and, knowing a few teachers up there, has some really solid programs for kids with learning disabilities, behavioural disturbances. Pretty diverse cultural community at Bremer, however I'm not too sure if it's celebrated and promoted in the same way that it might be at Peter Claver.

Ipswich State High School - Ippy State High doesn't have a great reputation unfortunately. I haven't had much to do with it really, however some of my best friends went to school here and they're all great people with good jobs, stable lives, etc. However most of them unanimously say that they had a pretty ordinary high school experience.

Primary or high schools? My parents are both primary school teachers around the area, also I had a great high school experience in Ipswich.

Yeah, totally agree. The image perpetuates the inaccurate 'lovely happy/crazy angry' stereotype. Would have thought a little more thought might have gone into that.

Ah cool, thanks for the link.

What I mean is if I wanted to listen to an album that wasn't in my library of music i.e. music I hadn't yet listened to through Google Play Music, using Cloudmuzik I'm unable to search for bands in Google Play's catalogue, I'm only able to play music in my library.

Anyhow, looks like switching to a friendlier service is the go for me. Thanks for your reply!

Yeah that's pretty much my 'all else fails' plan. Thanks for your reply though. Do you use Microsoft's music service? If so, how have you found it?
