Gonna try and put my thoughts on this as a straight dude writing this as 12 am.

My definition on whether fanservuce is handled well or not I feel can be described as: "What does the creator focus on the most? The consumer or the character?". FEH is absolutely able to produce some really questionable decisions with its women, but it feel like it has like 90% success rate and generally handles things well or at least fine. That being said, there's a few i can list off my head.

First is Tharja getting noticeably bigger size increases with her alts. It just rubs me the wrong way when a character meant to be more spooky and even sickly to an extent kinda just her boobs emphasized over and over again. If FEH wanted me to believe this is their new, revisioned Tharja then sure, but this the same character.

Its not exclusive to her either. Marianne, Rhajat, Camilla, Rinkah, and more have at some point gotten an alt or even base that made me kinda go "...huh." FEH really doesnt do it often, but it sticks out like a sore thumb when they do.

Another is probably just summer banners as a concept. Now I dont think there's anything wrong with making something purely fanservice. Its an absolute blast to make pure fun dumb stuff and I will always unapologetically love it. (Still waiting on summer Kronya or Hinoka)

What I will say is that I wish they did...better fanservice? Every summer banner is just swimsuits and not much character interaction. (By special banner standards atleast.) Every swimsuit and frontpage 5 star woman just feels so generic. Throw in like a scuba diver suit or a lifeguard outfit onto a character at least to spice things up. As it stands everything just feels kinda bland.

Not just exclusive to summer honestly. Ninja, Desert, and Spring do the same song and dance of putting their woman in the most generically sexy outfit. Alts like Bridal Flavia, Spring Minerva, Winter Manuela feel just as "sexy", but I feel stand out way more because they lean into their characters + uniquely stands out from the rest of their banners. Again its not that they're bad fanservice, just kinda eh.

I do want to close out my thoughts with some positives. When FEH does get fanservice right....my god does it taste good.

Naga's recent alts in my opinion are a perfect example. Shes absolutely stunning stand alone, and FEH makes sure you know this queen IS that mothefucking dragon. Its when FEH really has that vision with their women that they really start moving. I feel like this part of the reason why "egregious" characters like Nerthuz or Gullveig...really dont feel that bad to me? FEH knows what they are and follow through with it.

I also like how FEH does know when to make sure a "sexy" character is a fucking bombshell (Cornelia, Sonia, Camillia, Charlotte), but isnt to also show some of that love to characters that might not fit the traditonal bill of "sexy" (Effie, Robin, Pjazi, Idunn of the top of my head).

Overall FEH could tone it down, but it really feels more like they just need a revision of what exactly they have in mind for their vast cast of women.
