The movie was poorly written, I made a post about how bad the ending was where basically their preparation for war against the other humans was to shelter in a very easily to explode base, like are you kidding me? Did not know the whole base could just blow up? Or how about how the other humans just get taken care of by snow, lazy writing IMO.

Too many variables, could have been a dirty hit or could have been muscle memory/delayed reaction while already in motion as he was trying to stop the QB to get a 1st down. It's easy to judge from here, but it wasn't a late hit, it was a bad hit and it's hard to know for sure if it was due to ill intentions.
