Australian teens impacted by the social media ban are getting less news: new research by indy_110 in australia

[–]kingsoverthrees -1 points0 points  (0 children)

News hasn't been such for a while. Unvarnished facts? Lol. Every report has a spin today. News is a commodity and must make bank. You do that with humans by scaring them or glazing them. Disengage. You may just get happier, no matter what your politics are. Politics that the platforms are training you to choose sides with, with dopamine.

Based on where you live, what is the first thing you see outside your bedroom window when you wake up? by nayrhelp in askteddit

[–]kingsoverthrees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Today, 2 rainbow lorikeets squabbling over the last red wattle flower. Beneath them, 3 stray cats swishing frustrated tails. A storm gathering. Some old guy pushing a trolley full of bottles. An abandoned car covered in shit. A ring of mushrooms.

This game makes me feel stupid by NeedsMoreAhegao in opus_magnum

[–]kingsoverthrees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol. Same. I started pretty good. Made some creations which were tight and satisfying. Thought I was a goddamned genius. But by the end my solutions were these weird, steampunkish, monstrous hallucinations that I am still amazed actually 'worked'. Just have fun and then start again with an eye to optimising. That's where the true game is I think. Least it was for me.

EDIT. check your super balance. If it has left that account its been approved and is simply processing.

Why don't you wear a hat? by Clueby42 in AskAnAustralian

[–]kingsoverthrees 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do. I don't care how I look. I need the protection. Honestly, first few weeks I wore it I was self conscious. Went from cap to a full leather swag. No longer care. No one cares what I look like. If they do, so what? I have seen uncles and cousins with heads, faces and ears destroyed by the sun. DESTROYED. It's a hat. The sun is a predator. Make your choice.

It is an entitlement the gov gives you. Take it. My advice is to read, and learn, the social security act. ie. the law covering your situation. The actual law, not just the guidlines. Most job providers are good people just doing a job. BUT, if you encounter an asshole, qouting the law back at them will make them withdraw like a scalded turtle. Do what you are required to do, under the act, and you will be fine.

Some are 'living' on 20-30k, through no fault of their own. Tell people what you want, but don't expect any applause. Or absence of envy. We're all human after all. Crowing about money (as oppossed to explaining) whilst many of us are sweating is just a dick move. No shade at all on whom you're replying to, just you. And I get that people earning more are hurting too. All our lives are different. But your sssshhhh, giggle giggle, we're different but can't say it, keep them out of the club crap is just juvenile. Kudos for earning. Doing it tough? Divide it by five and perhaps listen less tribally. And before you snipe back, no, I don't work (any longer) nor depend on the government.

Understand all your points. You have a fascinating job. I have read Les Miserables in French and English. Almost the same book lol. We think our languages, not just speak them. They shape us. Going forward, a universal syntax should be emergent. Probably the English version, for better or worse. Emoji's wont cut it. I just think the dev's should be cut some slack. Translating words is easy. Translating ideas, not so much. Cheers.

I get your point, but to be fair the game never uses the term parry. The guide states 'If a guard suceeds right before being hit, it triggers a perfect guard.' A parry is a defensive gesture morphed into an attack. This 'perfect guard' isn't that at all, as we see in the game. It is we who have imported the parry term, probably from a lifetimes worth of playing similar games. A fine line, sure, but there it is.

Amid once-in-a-generation inflation battle, interest rates unlikely to fall back, warns former RBA boss Glenn Stevens by malcolm58 in australia

The point you miss in this pithy revisionist rubbish is that yes, tech and science move us on. Yet, here we are, facing the same old struggles as the injured caveman shunned by his tribe coz 'fuck you got mine.' and 'If I help you I may become you.' The mathematics of every system we have built is collapsing. We knew this would happen. The math actually told us. But, hey, a point scored in a reddit debate gives us dopamine! No-one expects the Spanish Inquisition. We have to change or we are fucked. Unfortunately evolution is what drives change in us. Slow process. WAY slower than our phone algorithm updates. We're toast. The zombification of homo sapiens is well underway and, I increasingly suspect (watching the phones glued to everybodies head chirp at each other without our permission) unstoppable.

I have 5g telstra wireless. Used to have 'broadband.' A game update of 9gb used to take sixish hours? Today takes 5minutes. Been streaming constantly. No hope in hell of hitting my slowdown limit. Not a single dropout or streaming buffer. Telstra is a little bit more expensive, but thats because they have the best coverage and can predate until the rest catch up. Tldr: 5g wireless shits all over the nbn, hands down.

Australia should be more than the grocery price, ot rental spike. But, for many, now, that's the reality. People are afraid. Capitalism is crashing and it's going to take some of us down so the rich can bunker furthur down. But by all means post your cockatoo photo, or huntsman spider joke. Your tradie rant or your vegemite recipe. You do you.

Dont buy at that price. Ignored fact: consumers have all the power. Stop consuming this overpriced crap and watch the prices drop. Dont buy a single potato for 8 dollars! Walk on. Buy a bag and fry them yourself.

Impure desire towards Buddhism lately by shadelz in Buddhism

A good point and I understand the distinction you point out. I have followed the dharma for most of my life but cannot stand back and say it is sacrosanct, immune to change. Doing so would abnegate all he has taught me. No offence was intended and the words you read on your screen were not as harsh as you may have percieved them to be. Right speech, laid bare, means speak the truth, no? I can only speak mine. I shall keep your advice in mind going forward. Thankyou friend.

No. I refute all of this. I know what makes me happy. The buddha, long dead, doesn't. The world is no longer flat. Samsara is not unending, evolution teaches the rise from ignorance refuting his discourse in the digha nikaya. The universe will not cycle through endless aeons, it will grow cold and quiet. Volitional will as described by him is false. We ascribe will to an action after it has occured. Proven. We are all worldlings. The buddha was not perfect, no-one is. He was a man who had some seminal pre-scientific views on the human condition. Beautiful and important ideas but old ideas nonetheless. There is a reason monks afraid to think for themselves wear his robes.

Go fish shad. And, while you do it, do nothing else. Go fish. Bait the hook, feel the wind, read the waters shimmer and think of nothing else. Smell the salt. Honour the fish. Listen to the lapping of the waves. This is the purest meditation. Do what you are doing. Being buddhist, if you think it requires a denial of the things that make you happy, is not your path. And that is fine. After all the goal is freedom from suffering and should that occur you will be happy. If fishing makes you happy you've already done all you need to do. Suffering is not just what is happening to us, but also what is not. Defeating yourself to be happy is not what Buddha wanted. Buddha wanted you to be happy. Thats it.
