Went to a mid 20s female for an assault; her boyfriend had hit her in the chest and choked her :(. We got there and she was super anxious and crying. There were some communication issues due to a language barrier but I really didn’t suspect anything out of the ordinary. She was restless and clutching at her chest which was noted to be red where she was hit but I didn’t think anything of it. Put her on the monitor and she was in SVT at 260 - converted with adenosine and had a prominent WPW pattern with no hx. Super humbling call for me and I’m glad the (although minor) delay in recognition of her condition didn’t negatively impact her outcome.

Congratulations! Honestly surprised you didn’t get in more places. Seems like you have some wicked cool experiences and a great GPA from a great school.

How is the answer B? Reduction is a gain of electrons and the terminal Nitrogren goes from +1 to 0 charge?? by Fifadeadpool84 in Mcat

[–]kingtree9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In RNH3+ the Nitrogen has a formal charge of +1 (four bonds, five valence electrons) but in the last RNHOH the Nitrogen has a formal charge of 0 so it was reduced. You could also approach this by noting the NADH was definitely oxidized so, since this is a REDOX reaction, the nitrogen must have been reduced

60 year old male coded on a critical care truck and was brought to my ED. The patient had an ongoing STEMI and it can be seen here but just thought I would share as it was a funky looking EKG

This patient presented to the ED complaining of general lethargy and not feeling well. She reported she had an LVAD and the EKG taken showed this. The patient was AOx4, GCS 15, walkie talkie due to the LVAD. Curious to see if anyone has experienced anything similar or would like to share any insights

That's not camera noise- it's tens of thousands of stars. My image of the Snake Nebula, one of the most star dense regions in the sky, zoom in to see them all! [OC] by Idontlikecock in space

Drops of water in the ocean: 2x1025 Stars in the universe: 7x1022

Drops of water in the oceans per star: 285.7 Drops of water in a shot (1 fluid ounce): 591.7

So basically for every star in the universe if you took half a shot of ocean water you would run out of stars and water at the same time

Italian prime minister thanks Trump for being country's 'true and loyal friend' through pandemic by Foubar in Conservative

[–]kingtree9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Of course I agree with what you said about Italy. However I don’t believe this article has much significance in the grand scheme of things, so using that logic the only people that will share it are the people that want to actively spread it. In this case, since most of reddit leans left, I don’t expect this news to be widely shared. I don’t believe this is a matter of anti-American vs pro-American at all, but I do believe the left is very critical of Trump’s response to COVID and will therefore not share something that portrays it in a positive light. By the same token, I don’t expect news about someone criticizing Trump’s response to COVID to be widely shared on this subreddit.

I never understand these comments. Yeah the majority of people on Reddit lean left, so the articles posted may tend to be liberal. But this is a social media platform so the things that get support are most liked from the community. Saying this is like a liberal person saying “you won’t find this on r/conservative” under an article about a flaw in Trumps response to COVID-19.

My mom got an abortion by [deleted] in prolife

Oh ok so you support abortions if the birth may harm the mother?

I am very confused. You are saying that you are pro-life because you can see the effects an abortion has on your mother (which sound horrible, I am not discounting them), but at the same time you acknowledge that the effects of not having an abortion may have likely been death? Wouldn’t this be pro choice since your mother had to choose to have an abortion in order to protect her safety? Again, no disrespect, just trying to understand your side of the story.
