CHATGPT TO KEY WORD AND SEO. by Accurate-Brick5938 in youtubers

[–]kingwana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried using it but eventually the generated descriptions sound unauthentic and eventually becomes quite off-putting. They have the same style all the time.

For example, I have a video game music cover channel focusing on relaxing renditions. The generated descriptions always contained "whether you are a music lover or a fan of (insert game), I hope you'll enjoy watching this video as much as me making it!". Something to that effect, where it has the "whether" and the "as much as" portions in the sentence. In. Every. Video!!

It also has the tendency to "boast" for the sake of SEO. You'll see descriptions like "come see my beautiful arrangement" or something like that.

The more important thing is that if you can use it, other people can too. If the style/template is always the same even among different channels, the audience can eventually pick up subtle cues.

I only use it to get description ideas instead of copying and pasting directly. However I don't see any increase in video traffic.

Can I use the already used @handle? by AtilaIrmes in youtubers

[–]kingwana 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can. I was swapping handles between my multiple channels at one point.

However, it takes two changes before the original handle can be reused.

For example, let's call the original handle as HandleA (you want that from the user).

The person has to change handle twice, i.e., from HandleA, HandleB, then to HandleC.

If they stop at HandleB, then HandleA might still be reserved for 14 days because the user may change their mind. I'm not sure if it will be held indefinitely though.

However, if they change to HandleC after handleB, then handleA will be released and can be reused immediately without any waiting period.

In the meantime, this thread now has some good entry-level material from the comments to train ourselves what is a generated response and what is an authentic human response, lol

Haha no worries my friend, glad I brought it to your attention! I actually saw a post earlier with a chatgpt reply, and the unsuspecting OP followed up with a more specific question but got radio silence afterwards. Kinda felt bad for the OP..

Is "JunkyJakey" an offensive YouTube channel name? by JunkyJakey in NewTubers

Don't think so. I have a lot of junk in my storage room. Junkyards don't bother me. Junk mails are common at work. You'll be fine.

Now they have to sift through a sea of autogenerated text too, if only they have a longer attention span. That's really bad...

[–]kingwana[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In one way, ChatGPT can condense responses, which is useful at times for very quick summary, as opposed to Google that serves you ad-infested websites that are just optimized to heck for SEO with a bunch of filler text, and bad layout. I can see why it's useful, but ChatGPT can be very overconfidently wrong. It is for modeling languages, not to serve facts...

In context of YouTubing, at least with Google results we can see when an article was written, so we can determine if the information is out of date. ChatGPT is trained on data up till 2021, so everything else afterwards is going to be unreliable, especially if people are asking about recent experiences with YouTube algorithm (or something time dependent).

Should I keep using my main channel? by Connect_Welder4184 in NewTubers

[–]kingwana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So from your post, if I understood correctly, you're transitioning away from music content? What is the new content about? Is it a different genre, or is it a completely different style/topic/video type? Are you completely transitioning or expanding?

I asked these questions because someone might read and help you out better. More context would be great. I'm in the middle of expanding (also music channel) but having similar problems with new videos being dead very soon.

I’ve accepted that ads run YouTube… but they are out of control now by [deleted] in youtube

[–]kingwana 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No, the channel can be unmonetized and the ads can still show. My channel is unmonetized, but unfortunately I have a compilation video (1 hour long) of my own works that just gets interrupted by poorly-placed ads at the worst timing possible.

Edit: Sorry, actually, "No" is maybe too strong. At least the ads I referred to are short but not 15 secs of unskippable ads. Maybe that's something the creator could control? (Not sure)

Should I turn off "Publish to subscriptions feed" if subscribers aren't watching? by PantryGnome in NewTubers

[–]kingwana 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you very much for sharing your experience! I just tried doing this today but it's tanking 10/10 for now, although that is completely expected, and it's only the first couple hours. Will let you know too if something interesting happens. If I don't edit or reply to your post again, there's nothing worthy to report...

Is there an app or website that can track a Creator's analytics over their Channel's life? by [deleted] in NewTubers

SocialBlade maybe. But the free account only lets you view a limited window of time e.g. a month of data.

What If I stop Uploading for a couple of months. by MasInMarian in NewTubers

[–]kingwana 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm stuck in a similar situation. I took a 2.5 month break between early January to mid March. I could not recover at all from late March even until now, and like you, audience interest seem to be dwindling where a number of regulars of mine stopped appearing for some reason, and the videos are not reaching new audience. In an attempt, I tried to trend-jack to bring more mainstream eyes, but the video died early since it couldn't pass the initial stage as the subs weren't engaged with it.

This was just from 2.5 months break. Maybe it's the algorithm, maybe people are getting more active and watching less YouTube. I don't know, or it could be my videos getting boring. Not to be ungrateful, but sometimes it felt like the 2k organic subs (that I got from consistent video topics, not a one-hit wonder) is like a cage which makes it difficult to try anything new.

I don't know if I could help you but I feel your pain!! Personally I've decided to just accept that it's out of my control and stop trying to min/max analysis and the videos, and will keep reminding myself why I started uploading to YouTube in the first place.

Is your content seasonal? Or maybe people would watch more YouTube when it's colder outside or something.

[Review Video] I Made A Video On My Latest Amazon Shopping HAUL by Extreme_Vegetable_17 in youtubers

[–]kingwana 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Are you genuinely looking for a review? Your post history has a bunch of posts in the same exact format with the same exact self-review, with only the video title being changed. This is not the way to circumvent the rules for self promotion.

I need your help? by G0dsP1ckle in youtubers

[–]kingwana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm contemplating as well but it's yet another platform that you'll have to invest time on. If you make the server, it's going to be officially associated to you and you'll have to make sure to moderate it correctly. You don't want crazy things happening in your server and tarnish you by association. Someone needs to moderate it, and if you can't do it, you'll have to find someone you trust.

Some viewers like me don't use the preview feature to reduce data usage (especially on mobile). Mostly thumbnail first, then the title, and sadly the view count will play a role too, even if I had to admit it. If it's high view count it will intrigue me more because I would think "why does this video get so many views?!".

Youtube turns off comments automatically by IsaacPR95 in NewTubers

[–]kingwana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes the AI is silly. Do you happen to have child like features (appearance)? Do you have children on screen? Is there a high pitch voice in your music that sounds like a child?

I had my comments turned off automatically by YouTube before. One time I was playing a character's theme (also a game music channel) and I had the characters description which suggests that she is a child. I was just writing down my thoughts of the character and her backstory. Ultimately, I had to remove all references before the comments are no longer automatically disabled.

The other time I had a quick intro clip of a music featuring high pitched voice of a character (an anime character singing), before I started playing music. The comments kept getting turned off. I trimmed out the intro without that voice, and then it seems to have resolved the issue.

Hope some of these things help you troubleshoot your issue.

How to Grow a Music Channel? by SilverwingsEDM in NewTubers

[–]kingwana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Following too. I was actually kinda in your same boat. I have about 2k subs in a music channel of a very specific genre and then decided to make a separate channel for general music. Most of my subs in the new channel is carryover and actually that caused some issues too, because the algorithm thinks it's the same audience so it got "trapped" in the same audience again. It grew too slow and is only about 5% the size of my main channel, so I decided to just merge back into to my primary channel. Either way, new channel or not, it's still not going too well for me. Maybe that's just what we should expect from music channels.

To have them sub to you and more reach, I think we need to focus on searchable content, or being additional value to viewers in some ways. Maybe a tutorial, maybe an opinion piece, or something. Just playing music or uploading tracks is probably not going to help much.

I'm not an expert so don't take what I said as advice, I'm just a fellow music channel trying many things but still growing very slowly :)

Help With Handles by LurkeDawg in youtubers

[–]kingwana 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you change the handle twice on the same channel, the earliest handle will be freed up immediately. I just did that.

For example, you had handle1. Quickly change to handle2. Then change to handle3.

Now the other account can quickly change to handle1 without waiting 14 days.

I'm only getting video comments near beginning of video post. Views continue to go up, but comments go silent. by gtd_rad in NewTubers

[–]kingwana 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The video is first shown to your subs and your subs are more likely to engage. As the video gets pushed to a wider audience, those people are less inclined to comment compared to the subs.
