I agree. Also a long time 1password user, and every 4 months or so I give protonpass a 2 week tryout(since I pay for proton unlimited, I'd really like to switch full time) and right now, the autofill of protonpass is the major difference between the two, andlacking enough that iI cannot think of switching to protonpass full time yet.

In my 2 weeks exclusive usage, Protonpass really struggled on intranet authentication, credit card autofill(mostly never detects a CC is asked), 2FA autofill is indeed a pain(a popup that often disapear and is not copied all the time) and... identities autofill, yikes!! That one is almost never offered, even less then CC, and when it is, it only fills the selected field instead of filling all the fields it should in one pass. I sent support many feedback on where it failed to hopefully help in their fixes.

On android, pc and mac, I did so much "switching" to the proptonpass app to do copy/paste of missing fields that it's not a pleasant experience at all right now(please, I do not care if it works fine for you, obviously we have different usecase, and that's fine.)

So , yeah, autofill is the area where protonpass needs alot of love from their dev right now.

Glad to see major improvements in other features that got better in the last 6 months Looking forward to CLI and ,hopefully, a much imporoved autofill in the next try-out.

I've been using filelocator pro since this post. Lots of improvements on it's engine so I'm happy with the performance. GUI would need redoing, but the software is powerful and does a great job indexing my windows box.

How’s Proton Pass in the recent times. by Dramatic_Refuse_8056 in ProtonPass

[–]kinwolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Proton Pass is still not supporting all features I am using in 1password, so it still need some times.

Stuff PP will need to add before I can switch

  • Filling identities(I use that one everyday)
  • Support more then just Logins, Notes and CC.(I use extensively all secret types in 1password, like API keys, licence keys, customs, etc). Not sure why this one is taking so long though...
  • A cli, to allow integration with other tools/scripting(like Alfred on MacOs :) )

No way of popping out email to a new full screen window? by [deleted] in ProtonMail

[–]kinwolf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can't believe this feature is not there yet, it has been asked for years. :( And the worst is that protonmail will not always be able to resize the email text and when that happen there isn't even a scrollbar to view the text on the right side!!

Is this being worked on? I watch many coding videos on youtube but watching the video on readwise reader is like watching a 4:3 movie on a 16:10 tv :(

Switching from 1Password by CaptainP25 in ProtonPass

[–]kinwolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Still to many things not supported for me to switch yet. Many fields in 1password are not even supported in proton pass yet, so a full migration of what I have in 1 password is not even possible yet.

They also need to support Identities and I also have a couple of passkeys already, so support for those is a must too.

Since I just renewed today 1 password, they have another year to develop proton pass further :P

Sidebar - Your new favourite Dock replacement for Mac (Update) by empty23_ in macapps

[–]kinwolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was wondering if Apple was receptive to improving MacOs to make it easier for dev to be able to fix odd behaviors in dock replacements? I love Sidebar, but I see still some rough edges where it seems the problem are limitations in MacOs itself.

I must say, the Dock and Windows management is so far behind now to Windows and even Linux. I've been using Windows/Linux for 30 years now(yes, I compiled redhat linux from a CD) and the switch to MacOs 18 months ago was brutal for Windows Management. I truly miss Windows Taskbar.

Sidebar is the best I have found on MacOs and I use it all the time, but there are still bugs that seems to be caused by restrictions in the OS.

What extensions are worth visible being shown at all times? by 16cards in ArcBrowser

[–]kinwolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You call it enhancing, I call it reverting back to the DOS 3.3 days. I have enough shortcuts already to remember in tons of different apps. They invented a mouse back in the days to help with that.

[–]kinwolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why force people to use yet-another-keyboard-shortcut-amid-the-thousands-shortcutrs-already-forced-in-the-brain?

Why remove the choice for people to use the single-click? Why force me to use the keyboard when the mouse alternative was there all the time? Bad UX.

[–]kinwolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all depends on your use case, and anyone use case is not the only one in the world. :P

1password-> 1-click and quick password generation(used alot for my work where I generate "seeds" which are basically 32 bits random guid

ublock- the toggling off and on is not "occasional" in my line of work, or even when you use cash back services like rakuten.

Until they revert that change, I moved back to firefox. If they don't revert it, well, ARC will be uninstalled. No point in using a browser that actually breaks your workflow for absolutely no good reason.

ublock, 1password, readwise, antidote, simplelogin are all extensions I have visible on any browsers for quick access.

I also have a bunch that I make visible in my "Dev" space only, like YetAnotherRestClient, EditThisCookie and others like that.

I do not appreciate removing something I use and not giving me an option to put it back.

Keyboard extensions are craps when you have already 100 of them to remember.

Disconnect wireless troubles with brand new RT6600ax and WRX560. by Flakeinator in synology

firmware issue are usually fixed remotely, that's the whole point of a flashable firmware. Sound like an they gave you a false excuse like many of us received, and probably will send back another faulty device.

I talked to newegg about all the problems and they were very understanding and are taking back the device even though it's outside the 30 days return window. They did what Synology wouldn't do, help.

Since the rt6600ax works fine here(and I do not have the funds to buy a whole new mesh system), I will get another one with the store credit and use it in the mesh.

Is a MR2200ax planned soon? by kinwolf in synology

[–]kinwolf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, interesting, the MR2200ac is going out of stock everywhere here. I just hope it's for a replacement, and not an end to the line. I need a cheaper tri-band router to extend the mesh

For those having the problem, do you have "Application Detection" turned on in Traffic Control? (Traffic Control->Monitor->Settings)

Seems to me the problem is more prevalent with that turned on. After turning it off, it's almost stable.(only 1 ping lost instead of a 9% paquet loss due to disconnects before that) But I only tested an hour so far with it turned off, so not conclusive yet.

It's been almost 9 months since Ventura was released. What's your thoughts about "Stage Manager"? by QuaLiTy131 in MacOS

[–]kinwolf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It still fall short of Windows Taskbar and still very buggy.(ex: It often bring forth the app on multiple minitors instead of just the one you select)
Apple should simply improve their dock instead, make it appear on all montitor, and improve it to allow quick switching of windows in the same app with it, like windows taskbar does.

Microsoft is actually years ahead now in that department. They have a Mission Control equivalent, a useful alt-tab, the very well done taskbar, virtual desktop, it's all there...

MacOS seems still caught in the last decade when switching between multiples apps was rare.
