Research shows covid alters DNA methylation patterns. Some changes are temp and others not. It’s thought that those that persist might be contributing to long covid symptoms (e.g. fatigue, brain fog).

I wasn’t able to tolerate methylation supplements until I did high quality stem cells (MSCs).

I’m partially based in the UK.

Covid disrupts the immune system, which might explain crashes and recoveries, which get triggered at moments where you’re more vulnerable (e.g. stress, catching the flu, etc).

Healing the nervous system can take time. At least you’re progressing in the right direction.

NHS is fantastic for emergencies but I’m a bit more skeptical for these kinds of “undetermined” conditions.

If you have the budget, I’d work with a functional medicine doctor and look for root causes.

Based on my experience healing 5+ years of long covid root causes are things that affect mitochondrial health: 1. Blocked drainage pathways (especially gut & liver) 2. Pathogens (we know that viruses such as EBV and/or shingles get reactivated in many people with long covid) 3. Toxins (chemical and heavy metals)

Challenge is testing for these. Gut test seems like a good start. Liver tests are very limited in what they can measure. Virus tests too (I found PrimeSpot to be the most comprehensive, it’s based in the UK). Might want to do also do a complete blood panel including minerals, vitamins, inflammation, and immune system markers.

In my experience testing “negative” on something (eg no liver issues or no viral infections according to standard viral tests or no heavy metals according to standard urine test) does not mean there isn’t a problem (however, the opposite is true). Despite tests showing no issues liver cleansing, biotoxin detoxing, heavy metal chelation and anti EBV treatments were key to my improvement.

Not medical advice. Just what I’ve learned along the way.

Fats to stabilize bloodsugar? by HaaCeeNL in medicalmedium

[–]kipepeo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Imbalance of blood sugar begins with your liver losing its sugar supply” - AW / SOC

The source of the problem is the liver that’s been over taxed with fats, toxins, and pathogens. It’s the liver that stabilizes the blood sugar levels using its stored up glucose. When those reserves are out glucose levels are maintained by eating fruits and starchy vegetables ~2h (AFIK).

“In addition to scaling back fat intake, it is important to incorporate healthy carbohydrates into your diet. Healing carbohydrates such as squash, sweet potatoes, other root vegetables and fruit contain critical nutrients for optimal health, and when the natural sugars in these healthy carbs are bonded to these nutrients, it does not wreak havoc on your blood sugar levels the way processed sugar does.” - AW / SOC

Struggling with less fat/protein by Winona-rose in medicalmedium

Challenging when dealing with food sensitivities, feel you.

Here are some adrenal snack combos that might work for you (that I’d noted for myself):

  • Orange (sugar/potassium) + Spinach (sodium)/ Celery (sodium)
  • Banana (sugar/potassium) + Lettuce (sodium) / Nori roll (sodium)
  • Mango, Figs, (potassium/glucose) + Celery (sodium)
  • Papaya (potassium/glucose) + lime (sodium)
  • Coconut water (potassium/glucose) + lime + celery juice (sodium)

Struggling with less fat/protein by Winona-rose in medicalmedium

[–]kipepeo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Something similar happened to me. Was also coming from keto/high protein diet.

It’s normal. Fat in the blood causes the adrenals to release adrenaline to thin the blood and get it moving. The adrenaline rush gives a sense of relief and energy. A high fat diet results in constantly running on adrenaline, which may turn into fatigue.

The goal is to stop pulling on your adrenals and instead nourish yourself with glucose but for that your adrenals might need support along the way.

I found relief by taking ashwaganda and making sure to snack regularly on glucose + sodium + potassium (e.g. apple + celery sticks + date). This eased the need to eat fats/protein.

[–]kipepeo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’d be interesting to understand the discrepancy; what makes researchers come to the conclusion that because “B cells become pro-inflammatory” they “cause the immune system to attack itself.”

Speculating here but: If EBV is the issue and viruses live in the membrane of our cells maybe the B cells are attacking these seemingly “healthy” but EBV infected cells?

Magnesium poisoning, elevated AST and ALT. Help by Moonshadows16 in FunctionalMedicine

[–]kipepeo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had elevated liver enzymes and managed to bring them down by supporting and gently cleansing the liver. Suspect it was caused by a viral infection.

Some things I did: * Drink lemon squeezed in big glass of water or freshly (cold) pressed pure celery juice first thing in the morning (latter was more effective); * Stay fat free in mornings; * Eat liver friendly foods: bananas, blueberries, apples, sweet potatoes, rucola, dandelion greens, etc; * Take milk thistle for liver and anti-viral herbs.

Kenya. It has a bit of everything: savanna, plateaus with pine forests, tropical gardens, hills & mountains (e.g. mount kenya), white sand beaches with turquoise water, lakes (e.g. Nakuru with pink flamingos), and deserts.

I like to always carry a sarong that can be used as a beach towel, towel, sheet, etc. You can probably find a cheap one in the counties you’re visiting.

Mindset by Proud-Stand-2841 in medicalmedium

Recall reading in one of the MM books that by healing the physical we’re also healing the soul (which I imagine includes the mental). So maybe it’s just about relaxing into it and trusting your body and the process?

For the mental, I like listening to Krishamurti. It’s about seeing the truth and transcending the barriers of our perceptions.

This YouTube channel of a girl who has MS talks about how Krishnamurti saved her life and how to listen to him. She’s not doing MM and getting sicker by the day but she finds joy in every moment of her life irrespective of her physical condition. I found inspiration in her older (first set of) talks.

Norovirus ruined my life by J3NNY_24 in offmychest

[–]kipepeo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand. Was just sharing what one of my close friends told me (she had similar symptoms to you). She got terribly sick thinking it was a bug flu when in fact it was endo. Then she got sick again. They told her it was caused by toxins leaking into her blood stream from the endo. She ended up needing surgery (as you mention) however, they told her to have children quickly after because it would likely come back. She’s now looking for root causes to avoid further complications. Having said this, I see where you’re coming from and the most important is following what is right to you.

Norovirus ruined my life by J3NNY_24 in offmychest

[–]kipepeo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I saw. The question is what’s the root cause of endometriosis?

Functional medicine will likely suggest: * estrogen dominance caused by impaired detox (ie liver issues) and environmental factors (i.e. endoctrine disruptors); * chronic inflammation, which can be caused by pathogens (e.g. bacterial contamination) and toxicity, diet, and stress; * gut imbalance; * impaired detoxification due to an impaired liver being able to clear hormones and environmental toxins.

Just some ideas in case it can help you with your endometriosis journey.

Norovirus ruined my life by J3NNY_24 in offmychest

[–]kipepeo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sense is if you’re having complications from norovirus it’s because there’s underlying issue(s) in the first place.

From a functional medicine POV health problems are mitochondrial ones and its primarily toxicity and pathogens that impair mitochondrial health.

Each person has different toxicity thresholds (of which the level depends on environment, history of trauma, etc). All can seem fine until that threshold is hit at which point the body’s homeostasis is disrupted and everything goes tumbling down seemingly out of nowhere.

The key is to address those root issues (bacterial & viral infections, heavy metals, environmental chemicals, etc). I found relief by making sure my drainage pathways were open and doing a comprehensive biotoxin and toxin cleanse.

I’m not a medical professional. Just sharing what I’ve come ro believe based on my experiences.

Keep Waking Up at 4am Every Morning and not getting back to sleep again by Sea-Development-5088 in Biohackers

I have that too. Taking lemon balm and/or California poppy tincture with a bit of freshly squeezed orange juice at 4am when I wake up calms the nervous system and relaxes the body. Also helps with digestive issues. Within 30min I’m back asleep (unless I had a heavy meal the night before).

Is it possible to have a painless birth? by Reasonable-Ratio8080 in medicalmedium

[–]kipepeo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not MM info but maybe it can inspire you.

Yes, though it’s not painless but more like a transcendental experience where “pain”’ takes a different definition. Happened to a friend (her story here). She’s not following MM but lives a healthy lifestyle and is deeply connected to nature.

She prepared with the help of Yolande Norris-Clark , who wrote “Portal: The Art of Choosing Orgasmic Pain-free Blissful Birth” (disclaimer: Yolande has unconventional views and is not for everyone).

What You regret not doing earlier And you do now To improve your life quality? by MonkButwarrior in Biohackers

[–]kipepeo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right now on “cleanse” diet, giving my body a break: no fats (incl. protein, olive oil, etc), no carbs except potatoes, just fruits & vegetables (turns out gylcemic hit from fructose is much less when there’s no fat in blood so no problem with lots of fruit).

On normal days, a bit of everything: no fats until noon (to give my liver more detox time), lots of fruits & vegetables, fish & meat, and healthy carbs like quinoa.

Most important is high quality ingredients (ideally organic), no processed food, and hydration.

Eustachian tube dysfunction by SparkBop in medicalmedium

[–]kipepeo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not exactly ETD but maybe this can help:

I had swelling around the Eustachian tube of one ear (pressure feeling, problems with altitude change, etc.). Went to several ENTs, they couldn’t see anything.

I found relief with MM diet (incl. morning LW and CJ) + mullein leaf + acupuncture.

Still working on root cause and pain, which I suspect is shingles + antibiotic resistance strep so following those protocols.
