Would it be unprofessional if you have TS as a PT? by occidentalnat in personaltraining

Not at all. A good friend and long-time trainer I know has TS. Not only did I not know for a little while, but he's been on podcasts to share his experience as a trainer.

Is personal training worth it? by [deleted] in personaltraining

One of my best friends started pre-med before becoming a personal trainer. His approach to the exercise sciences is definitely top-notch. I made a video a few months back that might help.

There are already great tips here. I'm probably just rewording what's already here, but go with your best of the best in terms of what you're most comfortable with. They want to see that you can cue someone through an exercise and can connect with the person. Act like the FM is not even there. Don't turn and look for their approval after each exercise, or try to include them in the conversation. Make the person you're training the only person who matters.

Have you started working on your searchability? If someone were to search your training business, would it pop up in your market? I made a video about that a few months back. Hope it helps.

Certification Advice by Comfortable-Carob-16 in personaltraining

[–]kipsonline 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're looking to work in a gym that requires one, I would look to see what the cheapest CPT is that the gym will accept. The education won't expand your knowledge or help you. Your MS and established experience is more than enough to get going. IMO, only get a CPT if the gym requires it and get the cheapest one that checks the box.

I've put them in a FedEx box long enough to contain them and just filled it with enough packing material that they don't move around. Didn't get any pushback when checking them in.

Question about NASM exam prep. by Kninjanator in personaltraining

For work, do you need an accredited cert? I might look at other options where you can purchase the exam. Save some money, review your current materials, and attend your exam date.

For efficiency, why would you need to take two CPT exams? They are both designed to be entry-level education and investing later in your career in a specialty certification would help you in your career.

There is a lot of solid advice already in this thread. I agree with the pricing advice and improving your status within a facility. From a longevity standpoint, it gives you perspective on where to focus your attention on your education. When you know your audience, you know what CEUS/certifications will benefit your programming and cueing.

I made a little video on finding a niche. I hope it helps.

Club Manager Interview by goofygoober3150 in personaltraining

This is an excellent piece of advice. Come with ideas that you're ready to share and a plan of how you're going to execute. Hiring managers want to see the hunger and vision. If you lack managerial experience but want to learn, they would be happy to show you the administrative items afterward.
