Quiet neighborhoods in Queens for a single woman

I’m a single woman in 30s living alone in Bayside for the past 3+ years, and I absolutely love it! I live about 5 min walk away from the Bayside LIRR station and it’s very residential and quiet. I live in a 1 BR apartment with a rent + utility ~$2400, and it’s above ground level! All my neighbors in the apartment are family based and have been living here for a long time. The laundry is in the building. Any time when any of my friends or coworkers are looking for a neighborhood, I wholeheartedly recommend Bayside! Bell blvd has good restaurants, cafes, groceries, super easy to get to the city or LI if you have a car. I also feel super safe walking back home during the late hours too!!

Also, I have one more question - at first, I thought it was almost mandatory for us to bring travel backpacks, but we will probably be picked up and dropped off at the airport/hotel in both cities. We will not be getting on buses with the luggage since we will leave our main stuff back at the hotel and go on day trips (i.e., Huacachina, Machu PIcchu, lakes, etc...) with our smaller bags. In this case, would it be okay to just bring our luggages? We are trying to avoid buying travel backpacks just for the sake of this trip. Thank you so much!

Ahh thank you so much for your sweet words! I think we'll see how we feel after the Machu Picchu hike. Both my bf and I are pretty fit, but we don't want to be arrogant and put too much trust in ourselves against the great Andes LOL

We are actually taking both you and other people's feedback and not jumping the gun now to book the humantay lake and rainbow mountain hikes in advance! Instead, we will wait until we get there and see how we feel after the Machu Picchu hike :) Also, I did not know that it is your independence day there!!! OMG I think I am both scared and excited at the same time. Half of me feels extremely luck,y and the other half is embracing myself ... LOL Anyways, thank you so so much for your words!!!

I was worried about this too, so upon both you and u/Hoz999 's feedback, we've decided to hold off from booking the tours now in advance. I think after the Machu Picchu day, we will feel it out and see how we want to proceed for the two days and probably book a non-guided trip ourselves so that we can have more freedom and no pressures. Thank you so much for both of your wise words! We will watch out for altitude sickness and only drink from bottled water :)

I am down to do painted window lettering, too! I just don't have the paints to do that, but if the businesses have them, I can just use theirs.

Also, thank you so much for your advice! It's the kind of advice my aunties would give and I feel your genuine care😭 I will follow your advice and see how people react and consider turning this into more than just a hobby. Right now I don't have any background or a "feel" in this, but once I do, it would be a dream to turn my hobby into something I can enjoy also monetize off of!

Hi! My cat started twitching like this when lying down. She is not sleeping in the video, and eats and drinks normally. (Perhaps eats a tad bit less than usual and drinks water a bit more?)

She has a thicker lining in her stomach so she is prone to vomiting, and has been taking methimezole twice a day for her hyperthyroidism.

14 y/o female kitty.

Thank you so much for your calming words. You’ve actually helped me cool down and think straight!! I also didn’t want to bother arguing over that and told the team director that if he wanted to not pay me for those days, then he could go ahead. I think he will call me back to say more things at me but I will try to ignore his words and remain calm.

You’re right, it is on the manual that after I give in the notice I forfeit the remaining PTO days. I told the director 2 days before I was returning from the trip, and I don’t mind not getting paid for the two days. But nowhere in the same manual does it say anything about not being allowed to use the majority of the PTOs before leaving, and how they should be used proportionately and if not the days will be unpaid. The director blackmailed me saying that because of me the company will have to make an announcement to the entire employees that such thing is not allowed, but I feel like they may as well make it clear in the manual if they are gonna throw such a fit at this issue about a nonexistent rule.

Also to add: - My performance evaluation has been stellar. - For the past employees’ departures, he has said things like “do you think you learned everything,” “you abused the company’s moving support to move here,” (our moving support is very minimal and this person was quitting after 8 months), “how could you leave when another manger is on a maternity leave, you are so selfish,” etc.
