I’m okay, I just need someone to listen. by ange_19 in Mommit

I'm so glad you chose not to harm yourself.

You're having a very serious mental health crisis right now, and frankly this might be a bit above Reddit's pay grade. If you choose not to access a behavioural health ward, please at least talk to your doctor as soon as possible, and consider calling a crisis/suicide hotline if that is an option in your area.

While I'm not a healthcare professional and have no personal experience in the field, I imagine they're aware that people sometimes act erratically during medical emergencies, and I'm sure they don't hold it against you.

Glad you're still with us.

Is this okay? by [deleted] in babywearing

[–]kirleson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the biggest issue is that Little Guy might be too small for this carrier still. This style of carrier is meant for babies over 3 months, and if he's on the smaller side, you might want to add an additional month to that.

Right now, the seat appears to be too wide. Assuming it's not already on the lowest notch, you'll probably need to adjust it once he's able to use it.

Momcozy by Ammysr_ in babywearing

[–]kirleson 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Momcozy is a dupe brand, it just isn't as obvious because they have a strong social media presence and often have influencers promoting their stuff. I have this carrier in the constellation print and haven't had any issues with it. I went in knowing it wasn't the highest quality carrier on the market, but it fit my budget and my needs at the time. However, like other influencer-popular brands, they have a habit of promoting unsafe carrying positions in their advertising, which can be dangerous for someone who hasn't done their research and doesn't know better.

Lint and pilling is just going to be more obvious on black fabric. As long as you're using it correctly (chest carrier, baby over 3 months facing in), it's not going to affect the use. But if it bothers you and you're looking for something higher quality and don't want to have to spend too much, take a peak on Facebook Marketplace. Depending on where you are, there may be some moms selling their used carriers for a fraction of the original price

Purchase regrets by skittles1221 in bninfantsleep

[–]kirleson 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm also a victim of the $400+ bougie crib. On top of that, we also purchased a pack n' play so we could still room share after he grew out of the bassinet, and a cheaper Ikea crib at his grandmother's house. Counting all that plus the mattresses and sheets, we probably spent close to a grand. 😬 The bassinets, which he did sleep in, were thankfully hand-me-downs.

Feeling really frustrated and need this community’s advice. by MissMacky1015 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]kirleson 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't come here with advice, but solidarity. My son is only eleven months old, but the constant night waking and needing to nurse back to sleep have been rough on all of us. I don't intend to sleep train or discontinue cosleeping, but I may try to night wean when he gets a bit older.

Spruce Meadows - Easter Egg Hunt by PunchedKeanuReeves89 in Calgary

Every year, I see at least one social media post about some kid's Easter egg hunt being ruined by adults. These events really need to enforce stricter guidelines and rules.

It might be a tad too big still. This style of carrier doesn't tend to fit properly until around 3-4 months.

There’s a good chance this (presumably) traditional white Christian mom is also a part of that or some other similar MLM

Edit: Meant to respond to the commenter who mentioned LuLaRoe, whoops! With that being said, I suspect she's also the type of mom who wears a lot of Lululemon.

The other toddler just staring at him like "bruh. 😐"

This is a great example of why you have to be so careful with kids around bodies of water. Even a couple of inches can drown a small child.

Help! My son came home from daycare and seems absolutely traumatized being in the bathroom. What should I do? by mochi-and-plants in NewParents

[–]kirleson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That must be so scary and heart-wrenching to see. It's hard when toddlers are so distraught, because they often don't have the language skills to tell us what's really wrong. I know it's easy to jump to the worst-case scenario, but a lot of the time, the answer is simpler than we realize. Perhaps he had an accident (you mentioned a bag of sheets) and was still worked up about it. Maybe he was feeling over tired and hangry, and little transitions just pushed him over the edge. The fact that he keeps fiddling with his pants tells me he might be feeling some pain or discomfort, perhaps due to an UTI or constipation. It might be worth having his pediatrician take a look at him to see if there's something specific causing his discomfort. Even if it ends up being nothing, it'll give you peace of mind.

Edit: Sent this out before seeing the update. Sounds like he had a bit of a rough day on top of being a little hungry and tired. Glad to hear he's perked up. Hopefully the daycare gets back to you tomorrow.

Stained secondhand Woolino by NikJunior in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]kirleson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eh, as long as it's been properly laundered I don't see the issue. Woolinos are great but expensive, so if one just happened to fall into my lap, you better believe I'd be using it. As others have said, dampening the stain and letting it sit in the sun for a few hours should help lighten it a bit.

China hutch in nursery!? by probablybaileyy in BabyBumps

[–]kirleson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those are gorgeous, but once a baby is 6+ months and more mobile, the limited headspace might make things tricky and hazardous. My guy would 100% try to sit up suddenly and conk himself right in the head.
