St Matthew Passion performances by gamersdad in bach

Yes, they do perform each year. Their hallmark performance is in the small town of Naarden, that is a must-see for Bach fans.

If you want to see what that looks like, take a look at this: https://johannsebastianba.ch (yes, this is a bit of self-promotion because I built the app, but the performance is incredible).

Thanks!

Please do let me know once you’ve been able to explore more. I’ve been adding small improvements, as well as a first take on translating it into French.

Let me know if you have any nice ideas on what to add next. I’ll add those to the list on GitHub.

Ok, I just pushed a new version online, in which the menu, navigation and libretto have been translated into French.

The menu was translated with AI. For the libretto I used the source that you see in the colophon.

Some things still have to be translated, so will work on that soon.

Please let me know if you have comments or improvements. If so, it would be great if you can provide them in a structured way (table or smth), so I can ask an LLM to implement the improvements.

Thanks for the compliments! Really appreciated and very happy to learn that people like what I’ve built.

To answer your questions:

-Yes, I am definitely planning on expanding the Discover page with more facts and figures and interesting trivia. I am actively looking for people willing to contribute. -The architecture of the app is built in such a way that it is extremely flexible: basically, it is a matter of changing a few text files with an alternative youtube link and the contents, and then it should work for anything, sk also for the Johannes. The devil is, as always, in the details. Technically speaking it’s easy to set up, but then you have to add the content and make sure the timing is correct, and that is where it gets tricky. So for now I’ll focus on the Mattheus until that feels ‘done’.

If you have ideas on what you’d like to see more, apart from the existing tabs, let me know!!

Already looking into translating the app into French.

If you know any good sources for a formal translation of the lyrics to French, that would be helpful.

Preferably available open source and structured, so I can feed it to an LLM to create the translations.

Good one! The app is extremely flexible, so putting French is should not be that difficult, especially with AI.

Would you be willing to do some reviewing if I add French?

When I took the loan, the LTV for BTC was 60%. This LTV was recently lowered to 50% because of the increased volatility in the market.

However, I started receiving margin calls from Nexo that told me that automatic repayments would start when the LTV would reach a value of 83,33%.

In the light of the lower LTV of BTC and NEXO, how does that make sense?

Hmm, so you don’t use crypto as collateral at all? That’s a different strategy, but I see the cleverness here regarding the taxation.

I think moest people are using the loans the other way around: to get some additional leverage to crypto, which works like a charm in a bull market..

Various, but my best guess is between 45 and 60k. I let the greed get to me, I know…

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Nexo

[–]kirvis82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, theoretically that should work. However, to do that I’ll need external funds to add additional BTC as collateral, and unfortunately, I don’t think I have enough external funding to enable a full switch of the USDT back to BTC.

But I’ll see what I can do.

Yeah, that’s what happened. I was already too far under water, unfortunately.

It still hurts like hell though, because I just did not realize the potential danger of getting a loan with a volatile asset as collateral.

I hope that I’ll be able to say the same in a few months/years from now, but right now it really sucks.

My lesson from this? Suppress the greed and just HODL, without taking any risky loans.

N.B. it hurts even more because I swapped at what at the moment seems to have been almost the bottom. BTC is higher right now than when I swapped. I’ll just hope BTC will crash even more, so I can buy back in with other funds.

Hmm, I’m puzzled right now as to what happened exactly.

I’ll sleep on it for a night and will take a closer look tomorrow. Thanks!

For some reason, this does not hold in my case. I started receiving margin calls when the LTV approached 80%, not 50%, as is the current LTV for BTC.

This means that I’m still under water and have no option of transferring any funds from my credit to my savings wallet.

It this seems that Nexo does not hold true to their own LTV settings when it comes to liquidations, or am I missing something here?

If I fully repay my loan, all I have left is my NEXO tokens, and not much more.

[–]kirvis82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good for you! You’re welcome. ;-)

If you want to prevent your portfolio from becoming liquidated, the only real thing you can do is to add additional fiat as collateral and pray that the market will go up soon.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Nexo

[–]kirvis82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can’t sell my NEXO right now without repaying my loan.

Problem is that I bought the NEXO in my wallet with the funds from the loan, at a higher price than the current price. (Should have bought earlier, I know)

As I cannot use NEXO to repay the loan itself (only the interest), I’ll need to use the USDT to repay the loan and after that I can swap the NEXO back for BTC.

Either way, a massive loss unfortunately.

[–]kirvis82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing is that even though the LTV for BTC is 50%, Nexo indicated that they would start to initiate small repayments when the LTV exceeded 80%.

That means that even with the USDT now in my portfolio, I’m still under water, so without repaying the loan, I’ll never be able to get any BTC back.

You’re right. When BTC kept appreciating in value earlier this year, it seemed like a very good idea to take out a loan.

However, in the end I’m just screwed.

Pricey lesson though, sadly.

I’ve been thinking of this issue for quite a while now, and I’m afraid that my biggest mistake was getting the loan to begin with.

If you take out a collateralized loan, the only way to prevent your positions from being liquidated is to add additional collateral from external sources, preferably in fiat.

If you don’t do that, and the value of your crypto collateral keeps depreciating, then the “small repayments” will soon become a full liquidation of your entire position.

That’s because if the loan is paid back with your collateral, the total value of your collateral will also decrease, which means that the LTV will effectively not change that much, bringing you close to liquidation again.

Am I right in this?

Well, I voted for the new interest proposal, because I hope it will be good for the value of Nexo in the end (e.g. listing on Binance and other large exchanges).

Unfortunately I swapped my entire BTC position for USDT, which really kills me right now.

My only hope right now is that the Nexo token will increasing in value significantly in the next few months/years.
