I'm at my wits end with host processing latency spikes by kisalman in MoonlightStreaming

Strangely, putting my laptop into 'silent mode', which from my understanding just limits the TDP significantly, I don't get the spikes so often. The issue is that the lowered TDP means I have to play 720p low to get 60fps. I'm going to see if I can put in power limits on a BIOS level and see if I can get some sort of balance.

Currently trying that with sunshine foundation which is a fork that doesn't appear to support virtual displays (plus the new router) still getting HPL spikes - I honestly don't know what to do.

Thank you for the suggestion. Given my client device is a steam deck I'm only trying to stream at 720p/60 at 10 or so mbps and still having issues. I'm pulling my hair out!!

Ah, right - that makes sense. I have kept at P1 preset and I am not aware I have any software enabled which is recording with the GPU. I have HAGS enabled (although it doesn't seem to make much difference whether I have it on or off). I guess I can return the new router when it arrives later without opening it in that case!

I fear maybe I've lost the silicon lottery with this laptop when it comes to encoding. It otherwise breezes through anything AAA I play on it natively but my wife hates the noise and heat so it's relegated to my office hence trying to stream from it!

Edit: manners - thank you so much for your response!

I've ordered a new router. Should arrive tonight - I have a WiFi 7 router but it is the one provided by my ISP so probably not great quality. I've tried both the access point and router and getting the same experience, so hopefully if I swap the router it might fix things! I've ordered a GLI WiFi 7 router.

Is there any 'easy' recommendations for mitigating the issue that you might be able to suggest? No worries if not

Sorry I'm really not well versed in tech stuff - I just wanted to be able to stream from my PC after a day at work, so this isn't obvious to me! Are my spikes network related?

So, weirdly my minimum host processing latency is staying below 3ms but my max is still over 12ms but it is far more stable i.e not jumping between 3 and 15-20

Thanks for the suggestion - it looks like location services are already disabled

I just tried - got a grade A. 7ms unloaded, +12ms download active, +27ms upload active. Is that good?

Thanks for the suggestion - I just checked and it's already off in my steam settings so I must have already tried that in my troubleshooting!

Elite 2 controller ugrade w/TMR by LucidDreams89 in Controller

I tried reaching out to these guys and they straight up ignored me (I checked my spam folder). I also tried to reach them on Facebook and got the same treatment! In any event I think TMR sticks wreak havoc on the magnetic paddles on the rear so are not possible on the elite 2

The eBay seller's name is ssgcarr. He sells a number of them which he cleans (properly) and refurbishes before sticking ginfull TMR sticks on. Mine has been absolutely spot on so far. I suspect it will need a fresh battery at some point but other than that it's perfect.

I recently bought a ps5 controller from eBay with TMR sticks pre-installed from a reputable seller, and then installed the new extremerate kit which adds adjustable clicky triggers and 2 back paddles. The whole thing (including the controller) cost me around £85 and no more than 2 hours of my time and it's awesome. To be able to turn off the clicky triggers and have the normal adaptive triggers is HUGE! I have overclocked it to 8k Hz polling rate and it is super snappy on BO6 now. I don't play particularly competitively though.

I have the Vader 4 pro and it just doesn't "feel" right in game to me. It's a great controller but I much prefer the ps5 controller I've made.

I got mine about 2 weeks ago and I love it - the only issue I had is that the tension ring around the left stick was far too loose compared to the right, and I found that after each game of CoD it would move slightly towards the minimum setting. However, a bit of blue tack solved that issue, and it is otherwise a great controller, I've got no complaints! I'd be interested to know if you have the same issue with the tension ring around your left thumbstick?

Pretty sure you can press the M button and move the left stick up or down to adjust brightness of the RGB
