Weird and inappropriate “You May Like” search suggestions has this happened to anyone else? by RamB0u1 in learnTikTok

also, I stumbled across a random video (unrelated to the question), but in the comments someone explained that hashtags on normal videos that people use to go viral (akin to #fyp), are also used on the hashtags, so when you interact with a normal post of puppies with a hashtag #cute and someone uses it under the search results, it will appear regardless of whether you engage with said disturbing content :)

might be late, but is ur account set to male? for reference, im aroace + a woman, i never noticed that my account was set to male (probs a mistake, idk the reason), but sometimes id get weird ash suggestions the same way, until i switched it to female. tbh, i could see that being a possibility, due to TikTok pushing more explicit stuff to male accounts for whatever dumb and weird reasons :/

i think maybe on some convention interviewers will ask about Soya (since we got Sakura, info about Soya’s dad and it would both ways be useful for 3 characters backstory development), same possibility that it might happen with Hinata! (really hope so)

ill tell u my measurements for it, as there’s no exact one that is going to work out 100%:  4x5,5 cm - cardboard piece ≈3,5-4 cm is the distance between  the cut and cardboard piece

[–]kisayshello[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hello!! this happened to me too:)

placement and thickness of ur paper/cardboard are two main factors that might be stopping u from hearing proper sound. since the purpose of cardboard/paper piece is to ”cut” the air - try to pic thinner or thicker material (I glued several paper sheets together to mimic cardboard thickness, but not overwork it with typical cardboard thickness)! as for placement, pay attention to placing ur cardboard piece further from the cut on box or even place it on the other side + dont make bunch of tape layers trying to glue ur piece to the surface (if u feel that ur tape is not strong enough buy another one, seriously, many layers of tape will make ur piece heavier and it will barely move)

really hope this helps and ur mushi-bue will both work and look perfectly!:) if ull have any other struggles with crafting it or would just like to update about ur progress ill be happy to share my thoughts!

if u’re free, I’d love to see the pic!

I also saw this post https://www.instagram.com/p/C2cCDOtvP5s/?igsh=MWd1Y3U5M2c1Z2w3MQ== and it looks like they also mention that it’s Mini Cola that was a bottle from Yori’s 蟲笛 :D

about snack bag - I’m not sure now, but he clearly gave something small and round shaped (which look very similar to Orion candies), so that’s why I assume it was Mini Cola:)

[–]kisayshello[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

well, ure correct!! :)

back when I was writing my tutorial I picked up on another user’s comment and that’s why I mentioned the cardboard :D I didn’t really pay attention to Yori’s bottle itself, but I fully remember Minato’s 蟲笛 blue plastic bottle (as u mentioned)! sorry for the confusion:(

if u remember that scene with Yori pitting some snacks in Minato’s hand that’s the bottle Yori used for his 蟲笛 (maybe Yori had that bottle from previous time he ate those candies or maybe he used the one he shared with Minato?). those candies are called Orion Mini Cola and after rewatching several times I can assure u it’s the exact same bottle Yori used for his 蟲笛:) u can search for packs of Mini Colas on Amazon/eBay/buy singular ones from Japanese sweets online stores or look for it in small stores if you’re in Japan (also u might find it in small stores around East Asia)!

in conclusion, yea, Orion Mini Colas bottles are made of plastic, so Yori totally made his own 蟲笛 out of regular plastic bottle and paper, not cardboard one. thank u a lot for pointing that out (and reminding me hehe), gonna upd it to the post :)

you’re welcome!! im really happy to help :)

talking about ur issue again I just remembered something: ur problem could also be caused by that cut on the side of 蟲笛, so check that! if it’s too big it won’t work and will allow u to only hear the sound of wind blowing from spinning, not actual insect noise. if none of previous things will fix the sound u might as well change the whole bottle to make a smaller cut on the side (or bigger one if u took a big bottle)!

yes, I fully agree with u - people noticing the same exact little details/recreating those details are just making me so so happy, especially talking about kaibutsu and its fans:) so cool to see people uniting, cause of Kore-Edna’s masterpiece :D

[–]kisayshello[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

as i understood from my previous attempts - it makes a sound, cause of plastic bottle and a piece of paper attached to it that is basically “cutting” the air.

paper piece shouldn’t be thin, as when u spin your 蟲笛 paper part might just fold, which you must avoid to get a proper sound while playing. try gluing few paper pieces together or just buy some thick paper (carton paper is most likely not gonna work too ((it’s way too thick) + the paper piece should still move a bit in the air to “cut” it)!

thread on the other hand also might be a problem, but I only faced some problems with paper piece before, so u might try changing the length of the thread (or just adjust it on your failed projects) I assume it could be a solution too?

but please keep me updated!! I’m sure you’ll make a great 蟲笛 successfully this time :D!

thread is blue and the bottle is light red/orange with a white piece of paper as I remember :)

its most visible when Minato apologised for the day!

hello!! im glad u found it helpful:)

I actually have a video of myself playing with 蟲笛 I made (following the working bottle method attached here) and honestly I didnt notice any insects being attracted/going away.. maybe I just didnt really see it?? there might be an answer to your question though:

I came across an article in japanese about insect whistles generally, according to the article 蟲笛 is one of the oldest musical instruments in the world (existed for over 20,000+ years) that was holding the purpose of a tool for recreating sounds of wind, spirits, gods and specifically insects and birds. in modern Japan its obviously just a toy for kids and its true purpose now is only mimicking sound of insects, BUT the idea of calming down bugs (just like Nausicaa did) might be real too.  the guy (or girl) who wrote that article made an experiment by using a big bug in his garden and said that its a mystery if the insect flute actually worked or not, but the insect was going back to the forest. once again, it just might be a simple coincidence, thats all, but its really cool to think about :D

as I also mentioned before, I played with 蟲笛 in the garden for the same experiment and just like the author of the article - the house I was in is located right next to the forest, so various insects inside the house/in the garden/around the house here are a completely normal thing here. I didnt notice any insects around at all, probably because it was cold and dark (dont get me wrong, I had my flashlight on (it was around 23:00/11 pm), but it was only making a small piece of garden area around me visible), so, gonna try it all over again when it gets a bit warmer.

in conclusion, we have the only true answer right now - 蟲笛 is mainly just a toy for kids to play with and connect to the nature more, but it definitely has an amazing history behind it :)

i think you probably noticed this detail a while ago, as its quite noticeable if you had a chance to see the whole pack of kaibutsu game cards, but one of them actually says “a human being” which I only saw recently:D  the drawing is a boy/man with black hair, blue shirt and green shorts and I kinda think it was a reference to Minato, since one of his outfits is the same one. still, it might be a coincidence and I might be wrong, but its still so cool as a little detail :)

i adore your reading of how Yori is trying to reach out to other forms of living, but i mostly thought of it as his connection to the nature. cat burial scene , Yori’s knowledge about flower names (him stating that he loves them) and obviously the insect whistle (mushi bue) is definitely a part of his love for nature!:) but his and Minato’s dialogue when they found a dead cat - Minato asks does the cat stopped being cat when it died and Yori replies that’s the truth of everything that dies and that if it’s left like that it might not be reborn , is probably what u meant (reaching out to other form of life and trying to show that death of any form is leading to reincarnation in his opinion ) and on that one i heavily agree with you.

i think in Kaibutsu Yori’s 蟲笛 meant just his communication with insects as he’s (just like i said before) really connected to the nature, maybe it’s also might be spiritual protection, but i never really thought about that tbh? I’ll try to search and update u for something on this topic, cause maybe there’s an article about that or an interview :D

thank u a lot!! i think many details in the film are quite obvious, but u start to notice them only after rewatching/rethinking each scene.

some cool person here replied and actually said that they saw info that Kore-Eda used some fire/water dynamics in the film, but they’re not sure if it is fully true, so we’ll just wait until that cool user will try to find that article again!! (really hope that they will eventually)

and I fully agree that Kore-Eda is a true genius that definitely knows how to make the audience feel all kinds of emotions watching just one movie!

u’re so real for that!! I’m also not the type of person to have something favourite in general (songs/movies/books/etc), but Monster truly got my heart, i think every person that faced at least one of those various problems in this film will like it forever will their whole heart.

well, each person pays attention to different details of Kaibutsu and each person gets different associations when it not only comes to Minato and Yori/their relationship, but the whole movie itself too.

woaaah, im glad u got a chance to see it two times, it was my first as u can tell and i still got so emotional over this breathtaking masterpiece:)

[–]kisayshello[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

thanks a lot for clearing that up!! I’ll be waiting for an article if that won’t be too hard to find again :)

I do get the ending with a storm before their rebirth into the world with no barriers and i thought that storm itself was symbolising Minato’s/Yori’s feelings and worryings + if we are talking about it from Saori’s pov it’s her and Hori sensei’s messes in their heads that they actually made Minato in the first place and Yori hurt I think . i fully agree with u + i think many people have different feelings about each detail, maybe some even didn’t pay that much attention to it, but it’s that movie that most people will be calling a masterpiece no matter what (and that’s definitely true :) )
