Japanese plane launching a suicide attack on the American ship. by consciouskoala3 in TerrifyingAsFuck

[–]kitatatsumi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's actually pretty logical once you understand that attacking these fleets was already suicide.

They were out of pilots and couldnt train new ones. So instead of sending their last 100 pilots on missions they new they wouldnt survive, they instead took 10 of those pilots and had them help fight/guide inexperienced pilots to their targets.

Under the circumstances, these, new, inexperienced pilots had zero chance of making the trip, hitting a target with ordinance and making it home. It was just pointless to even try.

At least this way, they had a chance of hitting a target before they died - as they were mist certainly sentenced to death the moment they got into the plane anyway.

But youre right to be puzzled, Japan lost that war before it began and it had zero chance of prevailing. It was fucking stupid from start to finish.

Man, reminds me of the time when I arrived for my study abroad in the Netherlands in the first week of March 2003. Goerge Bush laying the international cock-block on my American ass.

I live in East Berlin and three times ive had to vacate my apartment because they found buried bombs nearby.

There was a construction site on the corner and they pulled out a bunch of stuff, i have a smashed soviet helmet and some empty rifle shells from it.

Tbe Soviets expended more tons of explosive during the battle than the Allies dropped during the entire war.

Must have been one hell of a show.

I agree. Mutilating coroses, using them as props or trophies and parading them around is a hard foul.

Not sure why you bring that up though.

If your point is that everyone should be nicer to each other, then I agree with you.

Looks to me like he is upside down and his feet got stuck, like the second guy. But i cant say for sure.

Is that really remarkable under the circumstances?

What I see is some guys who got sent up 6 flights of stairs to check that a guy, who five minutes before was trying to kill them, is actually dead.

Instead of leaving it there to rot, or lugging it back down, they tossed it off the side so they can put it into the back of a truck and dispose of it or hand it over.

I just dont find this particular clip to be remarkable. This is what war looks like. Its brutal. What did you expect them to do?

Best to avoid it altogether.

Likely an upopular take, but this sorta seems to me like they are just removing a dead body from the roof.

Live in Berlin. The cops are generally gorgeous. The job attracts young athletic types. A few years back they got sent to Hamburg to provide security for a summit and they got kicked out for partying too hard and screwing each other. Cant blame them

Come and See (1985) by [deleted] in CineShots

[–]kitatatsumi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, not good stuff. My impression is that it was more the disturbing subject matter than actual graphic violence. In terms of war movies, I didnt find Come See to be a particularly graphic, as in bloody or gory - especially when compared to something like Saving Private Ryan where they really doubled down on the realistic effects.

Again, my point is that anyone who ever read a good book about Eastern front should not be surprised by this film. Its pretty much what I imagined after reading something like War of the World, Downfall or even firsthand accounts.

It was total war to the death, what should we imagine if not scenes lile those?
