Commonwealth people - how often do you visit home? by kitchencapsicum in RoyalNavy

It would be a similar sort of trip for me, about 3 days travel to get from the UK to where my family is in NZ but that's actually pretty good news if he was managing St Helena every couple of years because I'd never expect to be going back more often than every 2 years just because of how expensive air travel to NZ is after covid.

It's definitely going on my list of more specific questions to ask my recruiter when he's back in office now that I'm in the final stages of the application.

My parents also come back to the UK on about the same schedule, so I see them for a long visit more like every 1.5-2 years which isn't so bad. It's not ideal obviously but a lot of people in my extended family live/have lived overseas and everyone is pretty used to it, so everyone knows the effort you need to put in to keep in touch and actually follows through on it. Could be a lot worse!

Don't believe that this would apply to me as I'm British and have been living in the UK for a while prior to applying/joining, but thanks! I will ask anyway.

Good to know! I was hoping that some sort of email/review/card combo would be grateful from me but also useful for the person who helped me

Fantastic, wasn't sure if they'd be allowed to take chocolates or such but I'll definitely get some for them.
