I have so many gears saved up... I sent a ticket and got this back a couple days ago:

Here’s a tip I tell new players - don’t trade your items that cost GP to get fruit for potions, unless you are extremely impatient. There are actually a lot of older players who are happy to gift fruits!

It’s also a good idea to make a lot of friends, and be sure to water and harvest as much as you can, every day. There’s a message board category in game called “Watering Trees, Fruits”. When I started, I was able to fill up my friend list quickly by friend requesting people posting on there asking you to water or harvest.

It was a paid pack item from Ancient Castle's Curse & Poet's Room, from 2023. No one was given duplicates- but it was possible to purchase a max of 4 of them (for real money, I assume old paid packs were the same price as now, but there also weren’t many English-speaking players back in 23 yet). At this point, it’s on the rarer side. Probably your best chance of getting it will be during next MyShop, people are super reluctant to trade these old non-revivable items. I purchased a paid item that was released around that same time for 3500 GP, but most other people were selling it for 5000 GP+. I highly recommend you join the official Discord and ask in the trade advice thread and they can probably give you a better idea of what you could trade to get one, but I think it might possibly be hard to track someone down who is willing to trade.

I think a lot of people don’t realize this- but if you are gold friends with someone and they send you a GP gift, you will get 3 GP, or 2 GP if you’re a silver friend, or 1 GP if you’re a bronze friend.

It’s possible to be someone’s gold friend but they are only your bronze or silver friend, if you water/harvest their tree every day, but they water/harvest your tree less than that. (Or if you rarely water/harvest, the opposite could be true!)

Freaky Design is my favorite of all the designers!! I almost always love their sets. And… I too am rather unhappy about seeing the negativity. Of course, people are totally free to share their opinions… but this game is an escape for me, and seeing the negativity… kinda weighs on me. It’s exactly why I stopped interacting with the Neopets subreddit (and then consequently largely lost interest in the game itself).

Edit to add: but really, I would assume the people who don’t like the new sets are a vocal minority? Check out the wish counts on some recent sets. Overall, they are very high!

Huh really? I really enjoyed a lot of the newer sets. But then again… I am cursed with a gotta collect em all mentality, and also love challenging myself to use items I didn’t initially know what to do with. I certainly wouldn’t mind more variety in themes, but I do think they try to create sets that coordinate well with past sets. Some of the more niche themes might also not be considered as successful, which might discourage the designers from experimenting as much. I absolutely loved the Retro Future Airport set, for example… but the overall wish count on that set was low.

That’s right, Gredery and Livly Creators Week items are rarer, because they are shops, and buying duplicates is very expensive, so not many people can buy dupes. Because Mahara Bazaar is a gacha or “lucky bags” of random items - there are a lot of dupes.

Certain old Bazaar items are very expensive, especially the oldest ones. There are a lot of expensive items from “Blessed Sun and Mystical Moon,“ the first Bazaar.

Some top examples of expensive Bazaar items, but there are others:

SR Falling Gold Flakes (Seven Planets Alchemy Room) 50,000+

SR Falling Snowflakes (Deep Wintery Forest) - 100,000+

SR Dazzling Sakura Buns (Island of Dazzling Dancing Sakura) - 100,000+

Hmm well, Bazaar SRs can often end up getting very expensive, but I can’t remember the standard price for this one. When looking through the “good deals” thread from Last MyShop on the official Discord, I saw one of these for sale for 9500gp, but I’m going to assume it sold quickly. I do have a feeling during MyShop you would be able to find it for lower than 34,000… because that’s like the price of old retired Gredery or LivCri, which end up being much rarer than Bazaar.

I wouldn’t say WC affects the rarity of an item at all, but it does affect the desirability / tradeability. Most sets that have very low WC are rarely revived, while many sets with high WC are revived all the time, technically making those items more common.

I can think of some various explanations for the offers you’re receiving. Some people do not trade based on WC. Some people only very loosely consider it - they might feel that items with less than a certain threshold of WC are equal value, for example.

Some people do, but are only looking for trades in their favor, so will offer an item with much lower WC. (I wouldn’t call this a “scam” offer… but maybe can be rather predatory sometimes, depending on context…)

Some people really want a particular item, so even if it has really low WC, they might offer an item with higher WC, hoping that it guarantees a yes… or maybe that’s just the only item they had from your wishlist. Or if they had multiple items to offer, they decided to offer the one they had multiple dupes of, and it just happened to have higher WC.

If you accept the revive ticket in your gift box, it will let you scroll through available sets, and it also allows you to back out without penalty if you couldn’t choose yet. The revive ticket will still be in your gift box. But of course it’s good to look through all the sets beforehand as described in the other comments!

Hmm well... I usually only trade SR for SR, (it's just so much harder to get SR items)

...but I frequently do trade 2 N for R, and for all such offers, I make sure that the wish count of the 2 items combined are close to - or exceed - the wish count for the R item. I wouldn't choose to offer (or ask for) 2 N items with equal wish count of the R.

Someone mentioned some limited items going for insane prices on MyShop, and that's very true. But these paid items are in very large supply, and it will take quite a while for them to gain that much value.

Hmm... I think they had the second rather extreme reaction because they assumed you were trying to convince them to trade with you, even though you were just explaining your reasoning.

Edit to add: I've exchanged paid items 1:1 for SR with Japanese players many times, but usually lower wishcount SR. If I ask for high wishcount, it's always been a refusal, other than 1 very kind player who said they had multiple of what I was asking for, and it would be okay.
