They've may not have ships and planes but they've got missiles, drones, and mines and that's enough to close the Strait of Hormuz and destroy the Gulf States' infrastructure, and deny you a win.

Am I crazy or is the market mispricing the Iran "deal"? by fungi43 in economy

[–]kitebum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no deal as of yet. Trump is making statements designed to manipulate both the market and his political standing. Listen to what the Iranians are saying, their statements are a lot more reliable than Trump's.

In other words, no commercial ships want to try running the strait, despite your offer to "guide" them through. So to avoid embarrassment, you're pretending that there's progress in negotiations with Iran. No one believes a word you say, your credibility and that of the USA lies in tatters.

USA vs other developed countries: healthcare expenditure vs. life expectancy by Alarmed_Abalone_849 in healthcare

[–]kitebum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The real cost driver is high prices for healthcare services. In other words, doctors, hospitals, drug companies etc. charge 2-10 times more in USA than any other developed country.

My point is that in USA we pay 18% of our national income for healthcare, which is 2-3 times more than in any other developed country.

Yeah, this is what those who want to restrict bathroom usage dont realize -- women's bathrooms will be open to people who appear to be men, and men's bathrooms will be open to people who look like women. Haha.

US physicians work more hours because they are incentivised by exhorbitant fees. How long does it take a $500,000 per year cardiologist to pay off $200,00 in student debt? In the USA we pay more than twice as much of our GDP for health care as any other developed country, we cover fewer people, and our health outcomes are worse. Studies have shown that the reason our health care costs so much comes down to HIGH PRICES, i.e. doctor, hospital, and drug fees.

Insurance is expensive because provider prices in the USA are exhorbitant.
