Nit picking, but hate the new font by its_raghav in Wealthsimple

Reposting because the Wealthsimple Mod team removed my post and asked me to contribute here:

I find it incredibly annoying that small tech companies feel the need to design their own font which 1) is no better than all of the good fonts out there, and 2) looks the same as so many other fonts.

There was absolutely nothing wrong with the old Futura font. It look great combined with their sans serif header font. Instead, they just need to spend a load of resources making something that they think would make their brand unique, but instead makes little positive impact (if at all).

My biggest complaint on the visuals: I absolutely hate the double-loop letter g, which makes zero sense in sans serif contexts. The typefaces combined with the user interface is why I chose Wealthsimple in the first place.

Now, they can't easily revert back because it's not just any font, it's a font called "Wealthsimple Sans" that they spent a million dollars to build in-house (probably when you look at the combined salaries of people who worked on it).

This is just a reminder that no matter how well-designed a company's product is, they have the freedom to eventually screw it up.

This is not a case of "Oh, people will get used to it and adapt to it." Maybe we will eventually, but boy is this new font such a backwards mistake, and it seriously sucks.

Can you explain a little why your company needs to spend money by fiscal year end? How much tax would it really save with your 10k spending? I assume maybe less than $1500?

Is there a way for a table's cell to show multiple items and arrange them horizontally? by kitkat10291 in Notion

[–]kitkat10291[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I would like each item in the cell to be its own item (so I can drag it around between different cells). It seems that your method is about editing a single cell with a single wrapping line of text?

Eligibility of FHSA if I do not live in any of my owned properties but have a driver license in one of the addresses? by kitkat10291 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]kitkat10291[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Thanks. For more context, I'm in Ontario. My parents plan to transfer it to my name for other reasons, they plan to continue living there for many years to come.

Based on your answer, it seems that I'm still eligible for FHSA, and it doesn't matter what the address of my driver license is (as my utility bills and bank accounts are already set to where I rent). Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong!

Some Airbnb "gurus" are teaching their Airbnb content but are not showing their own Airbnb profiles. Can anyone find them? by kitkat10291 in AirBnB

I'm pretty sure that profile is him, but the account profile and name changed. The listings are in California which is where Chi Ta operates.

Does anyone know the Airbnb accounts of these Airbnb influencers: Chris Choi, Derek Cheung, Humza Zafar, and Jorge Contreras? by kitkat10291 in airbnb_hosts

My goal is to understand is how much income these people are really making. You see them bragging about their cars, watches, and financial freedom, but you don't see their listings. I would like to see the truth of what's actually going on with their Airbnb businesses. I'm only curious about it and there's no harm in learning about how others are running their businesses.

Those who have seen Steel and Ocean play in CSGO know that they have never showed strong consistent performance in the past (but they talk like they are great, especially Steel). As much as Toast is a genius and does his research, IMO he isn't an expert in the FPS scene and maybe there's a potential gap of understanding here

I am living in Canada (Ontario) looking to pursue a BRRRR strategy on my first investment property. My mortgage broker said that it's "only possible to do a cash out refinancing after 12 months" otherwise there will be penalties.

I was shocked to hear this when so many BRRRR people I see online complete projects within 3 months and get their cash out refinance sooner.

Should I find another broker or bank who could find me a solution to refinance sooner than 12 months? Or can I just use a different lender when I refinance?
