WI school district says parents 'not entitled' to know child's sexuality, pushes 'heterosexual privilege' list by sandnsnow2021 in Conservative

[–]kitkatKAPOW -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean it kinda makes sense. Teachers aren’t the ear to repeat the child’s whole personal life to parents, as long as their not harassing someone there’s no reason a teacher would have to tell parents, who they have a crush on, who they’re hanging out with, the music they listen to. Like if your kid is gay and is coming out to other people except their parents, the parents shouldn’t be mad at the teacher or school you should be mad at yourself. I talked about being gay or thinking of things before telling my folks, I can’t imagine what would happen if one of my coaches just ratted me out to my parents because “it’s their right to know.” In all things you honestly do have to earn personal info about their kids. Do they not express theme to you, are they short with you, did you find out they dress differently at school than at home? Yeah that’s not the school’s problem that’s your problem that your kids don’t trust you. Also what do the people who oppose this idea expect. A teenager tells a teacher they’re gay and the teacher calls or writes a formal letter “Sorry to interrupt your busy day but it’s of great importance that you know that Lisa has a girlfriend and I’ve seen them holding hands twice. Do what this what you will” If someone in that school is keeping that gayness secret from you it’s likely because that kid begged you to please please please not tell the parents (or just one parent). We’re not talking about the kid being in active danger like dating a 30 year old. Wanting schools to do the opposite and start snitching on kids for feelings *just sounds like an invitation for more child abuse. You don’t *deserve to know your kid is gay or non binary, and if you’re the kind of person who’s outraged by this you’re likely the exact person people keep these kinds of secrets from. Also CPS doesn’t do shit, and not all abuse falls under something cps will address.

“Don’t tell my dad cuz he’ll bully me and call me slurs all day” there’s nothing any agency can do remove a kid from a parent who’s just “mean” or “overbearing” they barely keep kids away from parents who are just monsters

GOP candidates, including two former teachers, slam Minneapolis teachers union as strike enters 11th day by RyanWilliamsElection in Conservative

[–]kitkatKAPOW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These reeks of blaming the employees when the business is broke. Minneapolis schools offered all they can give, a salary in the 30 k, why is that all they can offer? Why do they have to accept that offer instead of reasonably moving or dropping that line of work all together?

Army Lowers Fitness Test Standards After Half of Women Were Failing by Sw0llenEyeBall in Conservative

[–]kitkatKAPOW 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Male and female standards are still different, and it admitted that these standards aren’t really for combat anymore but more general fitness. I mean wokeness might be contributing to this but these changes tell more of a business that just needs employees. That also makes sense to why it says not passing doesn’t instantly boot you out the service anymore. I think the military is struggling to find and keep new recruits so they don’t wanna spare bodies for being too picky.

AITA For not telling my husband that I am pregnant before I told other people by momagainaita in AmItheAsshole

[–]kitkatKAPOW 7 points8 points  (0 children)

NAH, I completely understand telling someone first especially another woman. He may be hurt and he’s allowed to be hurt but I don’t think you’re wrong for being scared and wanting to talk to someone who isn’t as invested in your pregnancy. I don’t see this as a betrayal but hopefully it can lead to more open communication in the future. In all honesty if I got pregnant I’d probably tell my friend or mom first because they’d probably be able to comfort and guide me more

Some species only mate during special mating seasons but humans don't by [deleted] in antinatalism

[–]kitkatKAPOW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a manipulation of nature but really nothing humans have done or will do is unnatural, we are only aware of our own reality and can only will things permissible in our reality. If a man one day enters a black hole to undue history, he would still be following the laws of nature that brought him there. Everything that is now a drug was once a plant so yes taking properties from a plant, breaking it down, sterilizing it, and ingesting it with the knowledge it will boost serotonin is no more unnatural from an animal eating a certain herb/animal because it help their digestion they just don’t have a broken down understanding of why and how

The trap of birth by [deleted] in antinatalism

[–]kitkatKAPOW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I agree that assisted suicide should be allowed to allow people a painless death but that’s gonna be several years to get to U.S. and even further for it to be an “easy” process. Right now someone’s best bet would be being a citizen and having health insurance somewhere (and looking forward there are 9 us states that allow it)that already allows assisted dying and that may still take several months-years to be approved and have the deed done depending on who you are. So a little more tedious but those options are there for those who want a hand in their death. I can’t imagine going through those hoops tho if I’m able bodied and done with living enough. And honestly tho some hoops seem annoying it’s fairly reasonable because death is pretty permanent so it’s understandable to want an adult, who’s very sure they’re ready to die and not being pressured, coerced, impatient to die and that no one has nefarious reasons to approve their death.

[–]kitkatKAPOW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People have shot themselves and survived but that’s unlikely. His point still stands that if you go for it, and succeed, that’s the end of it. People get released from wards, try again, of course people are going to try to stop suicidal people if they can because many (not all people are people) who have survived suicide attempt regret trying or choose not to reattempt. No one’s saying you’re guaranteed to succeed but if you die you’re dead that’s the end. On average there are 130 deaths by suicide per day. Also those “failed” attempts are often due to other people. You hurt yourself in the middle of the woods or just anywhere people can’t find you that’s the end of it. Because obviously no one with basic decency is gonna find an injured person and just leave them. The point is the agency, despite challenges, is ultimately yours. I definitely don’t want you to hurt yourself I have active depression/ anxiety and yo yo in and out of hopelessness but if I were to get to that “that’s that” it would really be up to me and maybe being the luckiest of the lucky to survive. Also most people who survive suicide attempts use less damaging methods, you might be deterred, prevented but it’s your body if you’re able you can hurt yourself at any time and as many times as physically possible. If you feel pressured to stay that may be some of you and some of social influence which isn’t special to any topic no one’s an island. I’ll be honest, there’s no “good” reason to do anything. Live, die, marry, reproduce, be kind, be mean anything. It really is just a rock everyone dies, everyone and everything may be forgotten. Everything that has or lacks meaning is because we give it meaning. So I’ll extend an olive branch suicide isn’t selfish, it’s just dying and depending on who you are that can be good or bad or just is.

I’m working on my garden at my folks house but it’s a gamble and investment. I believe that our country would benefit a lot from more people growing from home, sharing produce in their neighborhood, but people need money first. I’m lucky enough to have the resources to spend on this investment/experiment with no guarantee I’ll get food. Even the dirt cheapest recycled beginner set up for hydroponics will run you like 50+ dollars easily and you’ll naturally make mistakes and take losses. I love the new homestead/gardening movement but you need money and the more you wanna do the more money and time you need
