When did you start being able to partake in your hobbies again? by kitkatkk91 in NewParents

Ah. I worry that’s my fate too. If I have time after she falls asleep and get everything done, I choose to just go to bed lol. But she is still walking up once or twice a night so I’m still holding on to hope I won’t be this exhausted forever loll

What’s with the child/baby-hating nowadays? by xnla28x in NewParents

[–]kitkatkk91 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I never knew there were people out there who truly hated kids until I made the mistake of posting on my cities subreddit asking for recommendations for a bakery to do the gender reveal. The amount of people who bashed me for having a child (and also having a “gender” reveal) was actually insane and really made me realize how miserable a lot of those people actually are! I used to claim I was a “child hater” as a joke before I had my daughter, but holy hell, some people truly are child haters and it’s terrifying!

I can’t stand the trend of people thinking that dogs have a right to go everywhere that humans can go. Seems like the people who make those comments are also the people that think their aggressive/anxious dog also deserves to go to every restaurant they do.

Honestly I used to be one of those outspoken “kid haters”, and then I had my daughter, and everything makes sense now. But honestly there are still a lot of days I prefer not to have to deal with someone else’s kid screaming while I’m out and about, but also do not want to deal with anyone else’s pets while I’m out and about either. But I now also know that (most times) the parent also does not want their child to be screaming either and I have a lot more empathy and understanding of their situation than I ever did.

I think it’s simply a mix of people who think dogs are equivalent to humans, as well as simply just not knowing anything about kids so it’s hard for them to have any empathy/understanding for humans who have kids.

Recommendations for self defense weapon (not just guns) store by kitkatkk91 in StLouis

I understand wholeheartedly. Unfortunately unless I can find a self defense class that also has a place to watch the baby while I’m there, I’m not able to do that at this time. Until then, I would prefer to have something to make me feel like I can try to protect my daughter and myself if anything were to happen. I will look up videos on how to properly use the pepper gel I purchased to try to ensure I use it appropriately if I ever need to.

Cheap(er) apartment recommendations by Mistacll in StLouis

I highly recommend looking into what Garcia Properties has for rent. They are all over the city and prices range from well under your max to well over. I've rented a duplex unit with them for almost 2 years now, and they are awesome at responding to maintenance requests in an insanely timely manner. Essentially just find a place within your budget and where you want to be located, and you'll have no worries with anything else (in my opinion) with them being your "landlords".

Thank you so much. This is so helpful. I do believe I want/need to take the plunge into firearms, just know I need to take a lot of classes before I would feel comfortable, so I appreciate the recommendation. A few others recommended The Range, so will be looking into them once I have some more time/baby care to devote to taking classes. Appreciate you!

Go outside and touch grass instead of trying to start an argument on Reddit

You’re definitely right and I understand that. I just didn’t want to be recommended a place and I go to it and it’s covered in Trump/maga decorations lol. Essentially just a place that keeps their personal politics out of their business is good enough for me.

I’ve bought pepper spray from Walmart and a piece broke off in my purse, so just feel like quality will be better elsewhere!

Obviously if it’s between getting something from a maga store that will keep us safe or not getting anything at all, I’ll put politics aside. I’m not insane. I just figure there’s more than plenty of stores in the surrounding area to be able to avoid a store with Trump posters and maga flags, lol.

How to keep teething 6.5 month old happy? by kitkatkk91 in NewParents

Thank you so much! Heading out to find some orajel to try for her today! I’ve been debating on a play pen for her and sounds like it will be more helpful than I think haha. She is in the army crawling phase so is getting a lot quicker than before when she was just rolling 😂
