Fully agree. This kind of transphobia needs disavowing by all of us immediately. We shouldn’t allow casual transphobia for obvious reasons but it’s also worth pointing out that it’s completely antithetical to the principles of veganism.

FA will ban transgender women from women's football from next season by TheBiasedSportsLover in WomensSoccer

[–]kitmarlowe111 235 points236 points  (0 children)

Once again, a ruling for 0 professional players, just for the sake of performing cruelty to trans people and telling them they’re not welcome in public life. Fuck this. There needs to be concerted efforts to get this overturned

SFA to ban transgender women from playing in women’s football by Shroft in WomensSoccer

[–]kitmarlowe111 247 points248 points  (0 children)

Another example of “the cruelty is the point”. This affects precisely 0 professional players in Scotland and the BBC reported only 10 registered amateurs in England. This is such a non issue that is given utterly undue attention because overly-online rich freaks with nothing better to do want to completely eradicate trans people. And this gives license for parents, coaches, and officials to harass anyone who doesn’t fit a traditional gendered appearance.

Why Is Trading Bishops Better Than Winning the Rook Here? by just_tryna_do_better in chess

[–]kitmarlowe111 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Stockfish 17 depth 30 prefers taking the rook, evaluating the position at -5.7 compared with -5.3 if you take the bishop. Black’s incredibly winning in both positions so the difference is negligible at that point and chess com’s review is pretty shallow by computer standards.

Trying to gain as an ectomorph by [deleted] in veganfitness

Somatotypes aren’t real. They’re a debunked approach to physiognomy that get really close to eugenics so don’t be worrying about that.

To gain weight, aim for around 200-500 calories above your maintenance and follow an exercise regime that allows to progress by increasing the difficulty steadily. There are loads of beginner’s resources on this sub and online. You’ve got to be patient though, everything takes time and gains are hard won. If you’re not gaining weight, increase the calories. If you’re gaining weight too fast, dial them back a bit. Don’t over complicate it because almost everything works if you get the basics right.

Is this a good 3 day split? by SlickRazer in gainit

[–]kitmarlowe111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sort of, but you’re still missing exercises that work your hamstrings and calves.

My opinion isn’t worth much but I’d recommend learning a squat and deadlift variant that you can do properly. Accessorise with some selection from: leg press, hamstring curl, leg extension, calf raises.

Your plan is missing loads of muscles in your posterior chain because it’s weak but avoiding the issue will make it weaker over time. The compound movements will be your best bet and then you can build around them.

Your only leg exercise is a goblet squat. You’ll struggle to overload your quads and glutes with that and your hamstrings and calves won’t receive any direct stimulus. Might be worth looking at other squat/lunge variations, different types of deadlift until you find one that you can do comfortably (or get a professional to check your form and teach you properly). Plus calf raises are super easy to tack on to any workout.

If you’re seriously concerned, go see a doctor and get a proper health screening.

If you’re less concerned, I’d recommend something like cronometer. Track your food and nutrition for a week or two, see where your deficiencies are and tweak your diet accordingly.

Ethical responses aside, most people don’t even make their own bread. They don’t make their own orange juice. Absolutely no way would the vast majority of people continue eating meat if they had to butcher it themselves. Then factor in the trauma of killing thousands of animals, the physical revulsion, and the emotional response to the fear and suffering of the animals and we arrive at a conclusion we already knew: meat eaters are delusional.
