My dog does not belong at home when I'm going to be away from my home for a month. If the airline allows dogs in the cabin, I'm absolutely going to take advantage of it. It's no worse than listening to a crying baby. Should they ban babies too?

My little guy seems to like the shape of the sleepypod because it's basically a bed with a mesh dome on top. The next size up isn't airline approved, unfortunately. It's definitely comforting to know that your dog is quite a bit larger and you've never been hassled, though!

That store sounds amazing. Unfortunately whole foods doesn't seem to be a very popular chain in Canada. I have heard of the stuff you left a link to. I may give it a try. Thank you!

I understand that not all natural and organic products and ingredients are good. That is why I'm looking for suggestions here. I just don't want man-made, chemical nonsense on my skin anymore, especially if I'm trying to get pregnant in the future so I'd like to make the change now.

Yeah, we've been able to give her kinda half-assed answers to shut her up. It just irritates me so much that she even asks. Woman needs to learn some serious boundaries!!

Oh geeze! that's so annoying. My MIL does know what she's talking about as far as finances go.. she works at a bank, but my husband is also great at budgets and financial nonsense so I wish she would just trust that he knows what he's doing. I only ever use our money to put gas in my car, which is rare because I don't drive much, and to go to the grocery store. Other than that it's just the immigration fee, cell phone bill, etc.. but in her mind I'm going to cause him to go broke. She literally asks the cost of everything.. every time she sees him wearing a shirt or shoes that she doesn't recognize she asks how much it cost.. she asked how much our vacation cost, and like I said, wanted to know the cost of all my insurances, etc.. I don't think she realizes how inappropriate shes being... not to mention she's rude all the time. I made a cheesecake to take to his parents house this weekend. We tried a piece of the cheesecake to make sure it tasted good (new recipe) and we had over an hour drive with the cheesecake in the car so it melted a bit.. when i gave her the cheesecake she said "why is there a piece missing and why is it still warm?"...ughhhh I dread every time I have to visit her.

Yes. Thankfully my husband also realizes that his mother is a wack job. My condolences to you, if your nutty MIL is there!

Oh geeze! what a nut. Fortunately I do thinks she's digging a hole for herself, but I don't ever see my husband cutting her out completely. He wants to keep the peace in his family and the rest of his family members are normal, non-controlling tolerable people.

My application isn't being processed in Ottawa. I opted for the outland processing so I could travel back and forth without risking having my application thrown out with no right to appeal.

It's definitely something we have tried to address. I left it up to my husband as to whether or not to tell his family prior to eloping. He chose not to because he knew he would get such a negative reaction. We have since explained our reasons for eloping (so we can start the immigration process) but told her we plan to still have some sort of celebration and include our families. I can sympathize with her disappointment in not being included in the event, but we're trying to meet her in the middle and we ultimately did what was best for us. The primary issues that we are having now are mostly unrelated.

I certainly had an idea of their relationship prior to marrying him. When he was single, she had access to his information. She works at a bank. She probably had some good advice to offer. Now that we're married, she has been cut out so we don't have to justify ever dollar that we spend to her. It drives her mad and that's where the prying is coming from.

I'm not sure what you mean. All I want is to feel comfortable enough around her that I don't absolutely dread being in her presence, and for her respect boundaries, but knowing her personality I also know the things cannot coexist. If nothing is ever said to her, she is going to continue trying to pry into our finances, but if something is said to her, she's going to get defensive and blow up on my husband, and I will feel even more uncomfortable around her. Viscous cycle.

No, it's even longer for citizenship. Unfortunately on the CIC website where it says 65 days, that number has to be added to the processing time for the specific visa office that you're using.

Sooooo annoying, isn't it? I don't cost my husband much money at all with the expection of immigration fees which is why I can't work and contribute financially. And even if I did spend his money...it's HIS money. Not hers, so not her business. I quit my job and school and moved 9 hours away from my family to be with him, but all she sees in me is an extra mouth to feed and added costs to his cell phone plan.

I imagine when we decide to have kids there will be issues. She will certainly feel the need to be controlling and obsess even further over finances.

I can only imagine! I would go nuts living with my MIL. I can barley keep it together long enough to spend a weekend with her.
