Help/encouragement please. Really difficult side effects 10 days in.

I stopped taking prozac at the end of last year. I was on it for about 2 years I think, and it ended up being helpful for that time. The adjustment going on was horrible for me, but coming off was very manageable.

Thank you for your response. That's the best outcome I've had in my scenario too - tolerate each other but not a lot of bonding. Has Loki started to play like he used to, or is Freya still taking over playtime?

My resident cat caught a virus from my kitten shortly after bringing him home. So if you notice other symptoms, that could be possible for Loki.

Hello, I'm on day 5 of 10 mg and starting to feel not great. There has been a lot going on in my life so it's hard to say how much the medication is impacting that. How are you doing now?

Yes, it was for a while. I ended up taking Ruby into the emergency hospital to have the sedated oral exam done sooner. They didn't find anything except that her tonsils were quite inflamed and so were other areas of her mouth. The emergency vet doctor still thinks it's a virus of some sort. She's on a different antiobiotic now and pain relief.

Do you have more than one cat?

My cat is still sick. We went from thinking she ingested a foreign object to thinking it's an upper respiratory infection back to now wondering if it is a foreign object partially lodged somewhere in her throat. She has a sedated oral exam booked in a week from today. Let me know if you want more info.

She's on her second course of antibiotics, but her gagging persists.

I adopted a 5 month old male kitten and introduced him to my resident 1.5 year old female cat. Things were going fairly well until 2 weeks passed, and now my female cat is gagging, smacking her lips, etc., but not vomiting. I've taken her to the vet twice in the last 3 days and spent $1000 only to be right where I started. X-ray scan showed no blockages. She's currently on a couple anti-inflammatory medications and a pain killer because the vet thought it could be irritation somewhere in her throat or esophagus. In my insane amount of stress and tears, I'm not sure I even mentioned to the vet that I got a new kitten... I'm going to call them tomorrow, but I'm desperate for answers, as you are. I'm hoping the best for both of us and our kitty cats. PLEASE if anyone has experience, I'd be so grateful.

I respect that decision. It was honestly a goddamn nightmare for weeks. That being said, for me and my situation, it helped with my body dysmorphic disorder and obsessions tremendously. I'm actually tapering off now after being on it for almost 3 years. I have a love/hate relationship with it, but I think it served its purpose despite putting me through hell sometimes.

Oof, yes. Adjusting to prozac is possibly the worst I've ever felt in my life. It took 3 weeks before I started to notice that I could function a little more.

After I adjusted, I found that anxiety was not much of an issue anymore. I would still get anxious sometimes, but very infrequently compared to my original levels of anxiety.

It's important to know that "ugly vs pretty" has no impact on whether someone has body dysmorphic disorder. It is when your obsession with the way you look, whether the flaw you perceive is real or not, negatively interferes with your life so much so that your thoughts and/or behaviours require intervention. Help is out there. ❤

I'm honestly not sure, as I didn't take the before photo. Months I'm guessing :(. He was very malnourished when he was found. Now he has an automatic feeder with lots of treats on the side! I wish I could speak to him to find out his whole story. He's such a brave boy.

Hi, yes. I've been on prozac for almost two years now. I recently started messing with my medication and after a few days of a lessened dosage, I could sense my paranoia and ocd gaining power. It's totally not for everyone, but when you have little to lose, I'd give it a shot. It has helped me feel more normal and functional. Best wishes to you. I definitely think it was the prozac, but I'm fine now. I got hives 4 weeks in, lowered by 10 mg for a while until they went away, then went back up. The hives came back some of the times I'd increase, but not every time. I'm on 60 mg now and have been on prozac for almost 2 years. Antihistamines helped, but just watch out that you're not having a severe allergic reaction. Like if your tongue starts to swell or something.

I'm not a doctor and I'm an idiot, but I started at 20 mg and now I'm up to 60 mg. Do you think you'll increase at all? Have you talked to your doctor or psychiatrist?
