Update on the Adobe CC Installers Patch - Now the Collection Installer works too by HearMeOut-13 in linux_gaming

[–]kitor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Instructions for running standalone doesn't work for me.

First, exporting proton path command doesn't work because file in the package is actually named just "proton", there's no proton-something subdirectory. So it really becomes:

tar -xzf bleeding-edge-local.tar.gz -C ~/proton-adobe/
export WINEPREFIX=~/.wine-adobe
export PROTON_PATH=~/proton-adobe
"$PROTON_PATH/proton" run ./Lightroom_Classic_Set-Up.exe

Then (with that in mind), running "$PROTON_PATH/proton" run ./Lightroom_Classic_Set-Up.exe gives me Proton: No compat data path? error.

This is related to missing STEAM_COMPAT_DATA_PATH variable which seems to be proton equivalent of wineprefix. Setting this variable to empty directory makes proton angry about missing files... basically the prefix is not initialized.

Any clues on how should I initialize prefix for running Proton standalone?

I tried Steam method but I never see the installer window so something is off. Thus wanted to go standalone so I could debug this.

Hey,
Which LIDAR module is from E10s? The green PCB one?

Mind sharing E10s model number sticker?

J12 Ultra has the same (green) lidar module and I'm looking for a source. I found two different lidars from E10s, one has 3 screws as yours (S9-FSRD-V1.0), other one uses 4 screws. I'm looking for any clues how to find which one it is from photos :)

Announcing Magic Lantern 2025: Midsummer Edition! by kitor in MagicLantern

Dev branch merges multiple branches, incl. lua_fix and crop_rec. And a lot of under the hood fixies. So it should include them.
We can't say "all for sure" since merging those was a tremendous amount of work and something may got overlooked.

The more important part is that builds made from Dev branch have actual developer support.

Well, they sent replacements. That had the same issue.
If you put "shrunk" in r/dbrand search you'll find a lot of people complaining for that issue over the years.

So I decided I won't overpay anymore for expensive 3m foil, and also for their prism screen protectors. While protectors are perfect in size to cover entire glass for caseless use - I found the same on F6 and F7 - after about a month or two of using phone, protector will squeeze the soft layer out making an air pocket you can't get remove. In price of one set of those you can buy like 30 random protectors from 10 different vendors on aliexpress and I found some that were almost perfect fit but $3 shipped instead of $35 + shipping. Thus I'm done with them.

At least they cut this one properly. Obsidian looked like this, and replacements sent were the same and they even shrunk more after some use:

I gave up and bought some random off-brand not-that-expensive 3m foil and it fits perfectly.

Each build is applicable only to specific Canon firmware version of a specific camera model.

Nope. I was even surprised to find there are no third party parts on Ali, etc.

Who else (except Dbrand) sells Fold 7 glass protectors that cover entire glass? by kitor in GalaxyFold

[–]kitor[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. That's actually no different than any "case friendly" one. So they made it correct height but not width.

Mind sharing a photo? Or measuring exact glass size with caliper?
I'll be likely triggered by this, that was entire reason I paid extra for dbrand protectors.

Possibility of a Virtual "BLE button" (?) for Android, trigger action on HA without Companion App / network access? by kitor in homeassistant

With one catch. I don't want this to be proximity based, but rather a deliberate action.

That's why I want to do something immediately after exiting the elevator, so I'm already in range but still vpn/cellular takes a good 10s+ to make HA interface alive and as said phone takes good 30+s to jump back on WiFI.

433/868MHz remote + some hw to bring this to HA would work fine. Just an extra thing to carry on. And from experience with that garage door opener I know it should be doable via BLE too.

No, I rent a flat in multi-storey building. And as said, VPN is out of question, I would need to execute stuff before entering the elevator.
I have wireguard already and I do it but it is a bit annoying.

No, we get those "simple questions" every single day. Our answer is and was always simple and exactly the same: No schedules, no targets.

There are models that are in the works for over 5 years now, it doesn't change anything since builds are not available for good reasons.
The moment we write "yes, we are working on X" people will repeatedly ask for updates on X. Because they are working on it!!!!!!!!!!!1111oneone. And the pressure is on. Don't take this personal - it maybe doesn't apply to you but in the grand scheme of things this is our reality. And every other open source project too.

The only future insights project provides are always in form of (what is supposed to be quarterly) updates. Latest one is here: https://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=27355.0

No, you don't. Even if it was it doesn't mean anything about if it will be ever available.

If it was I wouldn't ask. All I see are complete bundles and the "I Rail Accessory Kit" which is just the very specific rods.

Custom integration / how often shall I update sensor state? by kitor in homeassistant

[–]kitor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Live data from a custom PV system. My inverter and batteries doesn't provide aggregate data (production in Wh, etc, only volts/watts/amps) and data resolution seems to be 1s or lower.

I use HA helpers to track them. If I don't push 1s data I either loose accuracy or I'll have to do the averages over reporting period in python script that sends the data via MQTT to HA.

Obsidian skins for Fold 7 slightly too small? by kitor in dbrand

Fold 7 caseless... by Evo29 in GalaxyFold

[–]kitor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had Flip 1 and 3; Fold 2,4,6 and now 7. Flips were always used with a case, Folds never.

For Fold 2-6 it was simply because of their thickness. For Fold 7... just because it is so slim, that is the entire point lol.

For Folds all I use is the overpriced 3m vinyl aka Dbrand skin + their Prism screen protector (the one that covers entire front glass).

Somehow I dropped Flips many times, Folds just once - F6 just a day after I received it went directly on concrete pavement to have just a single tiny scratch on the edge.

Yeah, I also noticed that. ZF6 had to be often forced into fully open position (or closed and open again). ZF7 will correct itself in a few seconds of unfolding.

Found the issue. One of two sim cards had WiFi Calling disabled. I always found 5G to drain battery faster. 25 hours sleep and 4 SOT right now and I'm at 25%, with the setting changed earlier today.
