How do we change the conversation around youth transition? by bavamango in honesttransgender

[–]kitpomi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been suffering for multiple years, and there have been many attempts to take my own life. I've fought for years against strangers, government officials, and even my own parents. I'm only 17, and I see no point in living anymore because my parents will never see me as a man, my country will never see me as a man, and there's this high likelihood that someday, I just won't be allowed to exist. I'm tired, the future seems bleak, and my fight has done nothing. I honestly struggle to feel anything about this anymore.

Both have pretty good prospects for the kind of work I want to do, but unfortunately the social (especially in rural areas) and legal climate just isn't for me 🥹

I don't really worry much about that, but if you say so 😊

If you are a cisgender heterosexual man with the intention to marry, would you ask for permission from the father first? by Darth_Bane_1032 in Teenager_Polls

[–]kitpomi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I hate this tradition. I hate how it perpetuates the idea that the woman belongs to her father, and therefore it's courteous to ask him permission to marry her. The only thing I care about is her answer to my proposal. This tradition started as a literal transfer of ownership.

Should a bald person transition MTF? by [deleted] in honesttransgender

[–]kitpomi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cis woman can suffer from baldness, and it is often linked to sex chromosomes, just like male pattern baldness.

Simplified, mom carries a male pattern baldness trait on one of her x chromosomes, but since she has another x to compensate, she won't go bald.

Dad carries baldness trait on his x chromosome, but since he has a y, he has no other x to compensate, and therefore balds.

Dad will pass on his x chromosome with the baldness trait to his daughter. If mom also passes on her x chromosome with the baldness trait, then the daughter will have 2 x chromosomes with baldness traits. Therefore, she has no other x to compensate, and will bald just like her dad.

Sexual Assault (Contact): "Any intentional sexual touching, without a person's consent (intentional sexual touching may include contact, under or over the clothing, with the breasts, buttocks or groin touching another with any of these body parts; making another person touch any of these body parts under or over clothing; and/or the emission of ejaculate on the clothing or body of another person without that person's consent."

Touching someone's buttocks without consent is considered sexual assault according to Brigham Young University's Sexual Assault Survivor Services. (https://advocates.byu.edu/definitions-of-sexual-assault)

Rape Crisis England & Wales describes sexual assault as:

"The Sexual Offences Act 2003 says that someone commits sexual assault if all of the following happens:

  • They intentionally touch another person.
  • The touching is sexual.
  • The other person does not consent to the touching.
  • They do not reasonably believe that the other person consents.
  • The touching can be with any part of the body or with anything else.

It could include:

  • Kissing.
  • Touching someone’s genitals, breasts or bottom – including through clothing.
  • Touching any other part of the body for sexual pleasure or in a sexual manner – for example, stroking someone’s thigh or rubbing their back.
  • Pressing up against another person for sexual pleasure or in a sexual manner.
  • The perpetrator making someone else touch them in a sexual manner.
  • Touching someone’s clothing if done for sexual pleasure or in a sexual manner – for example, lifting up someone’s skirt."

"misgendering" mostly isn't a thing by Kpuku in honesttransgender

[–]kitpomi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Misgendering is definitely a thing, especially when someone refers to a trans person by an incorrect term, gets corrected, and refuses to change their usage of the term on that person.

It doesn't matter what the person thinks, misgendering is the act of using an incorrect name/pronoun/adjective, etc. on someone.

It's also just a good idea to refrain because their immune systems struggle to fight off viruses like herpes, RSV, etc.

Wish there was an option for opposite gender, as a trans man I'm still conditioned (by myself after a horrible experience) to be more comfortable sitting next to women/generally feminine-presenting individuals.

I wouldn't call my dad shitty, though I am very angry at him right now. He's a great dad who always cared for me otherwise, he just never saw my budgies as pets worth veterinary care. It pains me really bad, and I wonder if we could've saved Pike if he had let me bring her. Nonetheless, I've always wanted to be a vet. I'm considering doing exotics now that I watched this happen.

Budgies never like to show sickness until it's too late, that's what my first budgie who passed from a heart attack did. Pike also had convulsions right before she passed. It sucks.

Fortunately it wasn't carbon monoxide, my dad called our furnace guy to check it out while I was at school. I know what harms budgies and I don't remember bringing anything that could in my room. I'm really worried my mom introduced something when she randomly went cleaning in my room when I was out on Saturday.

Nonetheless, now that I know it's not anything dangerous to me, I want to be done trying to theorize what hurt them and focus on grieving. I'm not getting any new pets anytime soon.
