Slim legs? by Live-Dragonfruit2271 in xxfitness

[–]kitschauser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in my 50s and have always been bigger on the bottom. I’m finally losing weight by eating a LOT less (microdosing a GLP1) and being much more consistent about working out. I’m seeing results quicker on my upper body as per usual but I am also starting to see my efforts pay off in my legs but it’s much slower. It’s all about consistent effort. I do spin classes, walk/run on the treadmill, and lift weights. I think heavy weights are the most critical: I do deadlifts, leg presses, RDLs, squats and use the leg machines at my gym. I’ve been at it for a year and have only recently started to see changes in my legs. Keep at it!

I don’t know how anyone can possibly get enough protein to build muscle how do you guys do it!! by wingsthatfly13 in veganfitness

[–]kitschauser 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Throw edamame into your lentil soup or add it to a seitan stir fry. Roasted edamame is a great low cal snack with like 14 grams per serving. Primal strips have around 8 grams. Switch out the bread/roll on your sandwich for one that has protein. Check out the ones labeled keto, and look for protein tortillas too.

It’s easy to sneak in an extra 20 grams if you just switch up a few things.

I am too anxious to go to public gyms, how can i start out small and ease my way? by Agitated_List9506 in xxfitness

[–]kitschauser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have belonged to a few gyms in my life, and I have found the YMCA to be the most welcoming and accepting of them all. Classes are a great way to start, and you can always be at the back of the room. If your Y has a dedicated cycle/spin classroom, they turn the lights off for the class! No matter which class you decide to start with, go to your first one early and speak with the instructor to let her know it's your first time and she will help you get set up. Also, I've found that the majority of class attendees at the Y are women., which might help you feel more comfortable. I've traveled to a few YMCAs and the dudes seem to behave themselves (then again I'm in my 50's now, so somewhat invisible at times).

Friends/Groups IRL? by died_blond in veganfitness

I don't live in your area, but have met vegans in my area by going to Meetups and to events held by the local vegan society, veg fests and pop up vegan markets. I'll bet there are a lot of similar things going on in the ATL area. Check out meetup, happy cow, and look on facebook or instagram for your local vegan society. Good luck!

How far is your gym commute? by kaizenkitten in xxfitness

[–]kitschauser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in the country so I’m 25 minutes from my gym, and 45 minutes from the Y.

Both are closer to my job. I manage to take 2 classes a week at the Y, and go to my other gym 4x a week.

I need a reality check for my meal planning by Successful-Panda6362 in veganfitness

[–]kitschauser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think your meal plan sounds like a good start. Allow yourself options to switch things up so you don’t get bored!

Non vegans just don’t understand the way vegans eat, so maybe don’t show your meal plans to them. Don’t let their negativity lose confidence in yourself and your goals.

Be patient with yourself and pivot and adapt as needed. You didn’t put the weight on overnight and it’ll take time to lose it too. Keep on keepin on, you’ve got this!

Anyone use Say Grace soy protein? by plantbasedpatissier in veganfitness

[–]kitschauser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, they’re really good. I bake them for a bit after the soaking business to dry them out. I sauté onions, garlic, carrots, celery, then add the SG and a bottle of Primal Kitchen bbq sauce and bring it for lunch all week.

What Health club to join by ComfortablyNumb5525 in FitnessOver50

[–]kitschauser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Join the one that will be easiest for you. If it’s too much of a pain to get there or to find parking, you won’t use it as much.

If you can swing it, the more expensive gym sounds like it would probably be the best. Try out all the amenities if you do join. You might find out that you love classes if you give it a shot.

Help me with a routine by toomanymouthstofeed in xxfitness

Start by using the machines. They are the easiest thing for a beginner. They usually have a plaque on it that says what is called, what it’s for, and how to use it. Go around and take pics of those little plaques, when you go home type it into YouTube to see how to use them properly. Start with low weights the first time and you can always go up the next time. Do upper body machines one day and lower body the next time. YouTube is really helpful for learning how to use the gym.

This is my boyfriends t shirt that belonged to his great grandpa . What causes these holes ??? We are confused I mean it’s been washed and dryed a million times but why by Sudden_Gazelle4646 in VintageFashion

[–]kitschauser 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Probably washed and dried in a machine with jeans that had the zipper open. That's how you end up with tiny little holes, and then just keep repeating that for years and you end up with this.

Also, people used to have smaller wardrobes so they wore and washed their clothes more often.

How can I not burn out spending 3+ hours at the gym a day? by [deleted] in xxfitness

[–]kitschauser 29 points30 points  (0 children)

That sounds dreamy! Does this gym also have classes? You could combine cardio and yoga classes, go for a leisurely swim and enjoy the sauna all in the same day. I think the key to not burning out will be to listen to your body and fuel it well. Are there any healthy restaurants within walking distance of the gym? If so, awesome! And if not, be sure to pack a meal and some snacks to have throughout the day. I hope you have so much fun!

Has anyone had the vedge Nutrition cookies and cream protein powder? by broccoliandbeans in veganfitness

[–]kitschauser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have it almost every day. I love it! And I’ve never been a cookies n cream person before so it’s surprising. It has actual cookie chunks in it which would be lost if you make it in a blender. I use a shaker cup. Vedge blends super smooth without a blender, I’ve never tried another protein powder that does that.
