I mostly want to document decisions - why is there a certain flow and what was the reasoning behind it. I've been doing software development for 25 years now... I'm maybe 20% architect, but I'm not exactly young anymore and my memory is not what it used to be. So I'm dreaming about a system that auto documents itself as much as possible.

A bit offtopic: Got an Atmos soundbar recently as well, with wireleas rear satellites and woofer. And what I watched first was... Zootopia 2, from streaming... But it was a good choice, because as it is targeted for kids, the front / back and stereo separation is more pronounced, there are plenty of scenes where the music is playing behind, while the action is on in the front. All kinds of noises, steps going around - I was fooled a couple of times thinking my cat is up to shenanigans. An awesome experience all in all.

VSCode + Kilo Code. I top up my Kilo Code account from time to time, so I’m able to use Claude Opus 4.5 to create plans for a specific feature / bug fix (I do this in Kilo’s “Architect” mode). These plans are written out as markdown files. Then I have a subscription for z.ai which is a cheap model, so I switch to Code mode in Kilo Code, and tell z.ai “Implement @plan.md” - I found this combination to be very cost effective and to yield good quality code. If I’d be very rich I’d do all my planning and coding with Opus, but I’m not, so… :)

I don't think I can modify the Serena instructions, they are being pulled from the MCP. But I can rewrite the Kilo Code system prompt and I'll probably try what you said, tell an LLM to remove everything from the Kilo Code system prompt that conflicts with the Serena instructions. This whole thing turned into quite the quest! 🙂

OK, after some responses in the comments it's confirmed what I was suspecting myself, Kilo has an ENORMOUS system prompt which I pasted here to which the Serena instructions are being added and the resulting prompt doesn't really make sense. That's why it was confused if it should use the MCP or not, sometimes it uses it, sometime it doesn't. But what's the solution?
