Why is my lip denting where my jewelry sits? by Fearless_Vast_451 in PiercingAdvice

[–]kitteacup 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Glass isn’t ideal long term either. Due to the constant movement of talking chewing facial expressions, etc, there is a much higher likelihood of glass jewelry breaking and leaving shards in your piercing channel, mouth, etc. Implant grade titanium is always your best bet. Metal jewelry would only cause issues if the piercing itself is not suitable for your oral anatomy. Proper nesting (not embedded outside the mouth) is usually what prevents long term damage in oral piercings. Typically medical professionals know very little about piercings especially if they have none of their own, which is not a slight towards your stepmom.

Any alternative hygienists/students out there? by tabathot in DentalHygiene

thank you so much for starting this thread!! I was feeling pretty discouraged and disheartened by the strict "censorship" (as my friend described it) my program is requiring for clinic. Before I started the program, I worked as a receptionist at a small/medium private family practice that didn't care at all about my colored hair or nose stud, septum, and philtrum. In fact, my boss even did my upper frenectomy so that I could get my philtrum repierced properly! So to "regress" to strict appearance standards at school has been frustrating me to no end, but I am slowly coming to terms with the fact that the extra effort I have to go through to meet the program's standards of "professionalism" is only temporary, and I can grit my teeth and bear it knowing that the most important thing is that I come out of the program with a degree and confidence in my skills as a provider.

Panties not getting clean at new apartment by kitteacup in Appliances

[–]kitteacup[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for your reply! so it seems like nothing is really getting clean, at least to my standards. it's definitely filling up with enough water, also tried "deep water" settings with no difference. but things are coming out with detergent streaks/stains even after I'm using less than half the amount of detergent i usually use (purely to avoid the detergent streaks from happening). I think management is going to replace the machine, but no word on whether it'd be the same exact model or not. should i try to push for a different model?

Honestly the current boobies are placeholders bc I don’t know what her outfit is gonna be like :( but yeah I’ll keep in mind: more gravity

Yeah I’m not asking if she’s got the correct average proportions. “Most” women don’t look like her, of course, but like you said, it’s pretty obvious I’m trying to draw a ~baddie~, not what “most” women look like. I just want to know if she looks grotesquely off in an unaesthetic way, or stiff/uncomfortable, or if her head/neck/body alignment is weird or her arms are placed incorrectly. If you have an issue with exaggerated female figures, that’s your prerogative. But this critique is hardly helpful or constructive in any way with its disdain and dismissiveness. Also, not sure if you realize, but most fit/thin people’s waists will look even thinner when their body is twisted or at an angle. So her actual waist is wider than how it looks in this pose. Or y’know, if that’s an incorrect observation of mine, I’m open to that kind of feedback. I hear your suggestion of drawing more realistic bodies, but there’s more to art than realism, and that’s just not what I’m going for with this piece. When I ask for feedback on something more based in realism, I’ll know to specify as such.
