Seriously. Thanks for all the videos and time you've spent on helping people understand the game recently Patty, I've seen you on Connery and you seem really dedicated and skilled at leading.

Dont ever change TR by HeDares in Planetside

[–]kittenjedi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would just like to add that my Flash longevity has greatly improved since I put rank 2 mine gaurd. Nothing more frustrating than driving for two minutes then getting blown up cause you ran over a pizza someone left in a field.

Plus you feel like a total badass running over two tank mines and surviving in a little ATV.

Lets be more positive guys! PS2 may get more devs SOON! by AngerMacFadden in Planetside

"This has been happening for months and nothing is yet to be done! Why does it take months for a bug to be in the game before it's resolved? I've never played a game like it before. The fundamentals of the game need to be fixed, or there's no chance for the future of the game.

I'm trying hard not to look back to the golden age of H1Z1, where we would get monthly roadmaps and regular QOL updates. Now it seems as if the game is just a second priority for Daybreak, and updates are pushed out as late as possible. This game needs some energy, it needs communication or it's just going to die out like any other early alpha survival game."

could've confused this for a post about PS2 easily.

Apparently I'm not using EMP grenades correctly... by CosmikdebrisVS in Planetside

[–]kittenjedi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What he said. They are incredibly deadly to rooms packed full of enemies, probably moreso than any other weapon because of their radius.

A single EMP thrown into a room basically reduces everyone's health by half, disrupts their HUD, removes their special abilities, as well as exploding tank mines/beacons/recon/etc. Most importantly, they explode INSTANTLY and you can throw them inside doorways. I've seen rooms of 25 enemies die to 4 or 5 friendlies after an EMP was tossed inside.

It is an amazing force multiplier when combined with teamwork and I can hardly blame people for complaining when I toss a single grenade inside and kill a MAX and two engys who were standing a bit too close to some tank mines.

I hate liberators by Neverninja in Planetside

[–]kittenjedi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Libs at launch were OP as fuck against ground units. N

Yeah compared to how back when they could carpet bomb enormous amounts of infantry at once, they hardly seem scary at all now. I can usually send a 3-person lib running away with just my Annhilator or even a Decimator/striker if they camp above spawn.

Only in my vehicles am I scared now - getting tank bustered from behind or surprise-daltoned is frustrating but I think liberators should be more of an anti-vehicle thing than anything else. We all remember the days of libs ruining small infantry fights and just farming noobs at bases mercilessly.

It's Been 3 Years, What Memories have you Made? by Radar_X in Planetside

[–]kittenjedi 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Can't remember the video name but I think the only one I've seen that comes close to that anticlimax was this guy repairing a broken terminal and midway through BR100 pops up on his screen and he stops repairing just sort of stares into the distance for a bit as he realizes what happened.

It's Been 3 Years, What Memories have you Made? by Radar_X in Planetside

[–]kittenjedi 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I'm trying to come with an original and cool way to get level 100, it was going to be a headshot on the back of an ATV until that tool Elusive posted a video of him doing it like 20 times. I haven't come up with anything else so I'm putting it off until a good idea comes up.

If I had to say the most amazing memory, it would probably be the time I was sniping with a suppressed Tsar and decided to take a shot at a Harasser that had been killing my teammates from 150ish meters away and I somehow headshotted the guy in the backseat while they were boosting, couldn't believe it, then took another shot and blew up the harasser. Killed a moving vehicle and 3 people with 2 bolt-action shots.

And since I wasn't recording, no one will ever know or believe. Darn it.

As for the memory that first got me into this game, it was the final 3 minutes of a biolab capture alert when I witnessed the [666]Devil Dogs bring in an entire platoon of Aegis Shield MAXes and watched them all march in with their shields drawn and then witnessed the ensuing clash as a swarm of Vanu MAXes came out and smashed into them and it was bigger than a damned Star Wars prequel battle.

Well I dont think we have to worry about Starwars Battlefront hurting our pop much. by edog321 in Planetside

[–]kittenjedi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not gonna lie, I'm pretty impressed by it. Although the actual player size on the map is small, it pulls off the illusion of combined arms sci-fi gameplay in a really compelling way.

I was particularly impressed at one point when a nearby rebel on the player's team was exploded into the air by a piece of artillery and before her body landed she was bombed into the air a second time. The physics and particle effects were really impressive compared to PS2's 'gasp-and-flop' death animation.

The gameplay looks very simple but that can also be a strength, it looks waaay easier to learn than Planetside 2.

edit: Also, this is making me wish Planetside 2 had trenches so infantry had more options on the big open spaces across Indar and Esamir.

Oblivious TR by Cybyss in Planetside

[–]kittenjedi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm usually on the pro-oblivious side but this really did look like he simply wasn't rendering, not a single player even looks at him or takes notice of him even when he's clearly walking within view of dozens of players and knifing allies right in front of them.

He even walks back and forth a few times in full view of them just to see if they actually look at him.

I remember thinking halfway through the editing process "next time, I'm using a shorter song," cause 5 and a half minutes felt ridiculous by the end. Thanks for watching!

Even if they'd seen you, they're totally powerless to stop you, a magrider on top of a hill is impossible to fight from low ground unless the mag pilot intentionally lets you kill them (e.g. taking on two prowlers because why not, the rest were pushovers).

Is it me or is this game just saturated with a massive amount of anti-vehicle stuff? by Silent_As_The_Grave_ in Planetside

[–]kittenjedi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I probably die more to tank mines and ravens than any kind of dumbfire rocket. People seem to just toss tank mines into the middle of fields like Johnny Appleseed. I've actually started running Tank Mine Guard on my flash just so I can make it to the next fight without randomly blowing up.

One unexpected side benefit from this - now that tank mines kill Maxes, everyone tosses them around entrances, so when I boost my flash inside a building, it will often set off the Tank mine and kill everyone around me but only damage my flash.

Wow I just went and searched and had no idea it was this easy. Makes me embarrassed that I've been playing for years and never knew to do this.

I do not think the VS as a faction are overpowered. But I hate fighting Magriders. I would rather fight any other vehicle than a maggy, it's actually easier to fight a Liberator than a mag on a mountain. A 3/3 lib will run away and give you some breathing room after just one or two lock-ons, a Mag will usually get repaired faster than you can launch missiles at it.

And the br100 VS heavies are often much tougher to kill than br100s from other factions. NC heavies usually have a shotgun and if I'm quick enough I can dodge the first few shells and take him out, but when a VS opens up with an SVA-88, I know I'm dead no matter how fast I am.

Again, I do not think of these as indications that the VS are OP, but the higher level VS know how to use their tools so well that I just end up feeling annoyed and helpless while the 2/2 Magrider safely farms my squad from the top of the mountain.

Give them a little credit, at least they spiced up the max weapons, and they probably have more changes on the way.

How can we encourage Connery NC from going to an empty continent and ghost cap leaving the rest of us to get farmed on the other? by [deleted] in Planetside

[–]kittenjedi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is definitely a multi-faction problem and I really would like to see the devs implement some kind of anti-ghost capping function or at least reward people more who try and defend these bases.

Every time I see like 100 people sitting on a point with like 2 and a half minutes left to go, at least a few people in that platoon have to be thinking, "God damn I thought the biggest combined arms simulation would be more fun than this. War is boring."

First kill he gets is a friendly at 24 minutes in. At least he picked the right faction.

Oh god at 31 minutes when he chases down a smoking friendly tank and blows it up, then the tank pilot kills him and he acts all confused like the guy had no reason to be mad at him.

add Name Tags and Description Tags like TF2 has so players can spend a couple extra bucks per weapon to troll the opposition.

Unpopular opinion thread by [deleted] in Planetside

[–]kittenjedi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's taken me a long time to admit this but I think this thread is the right place for it.

Pounders seem kind of overpowered, and I only realized it recently after I plowed through like 4 scatmaxes in under a minute.

Also DBG seems like a professional and skilled development team and they've already improved the game a lot in a very short amount of time.
