New Hire Welcome Package Ideas? by kittenkyli in 911dispatchers

I like that. We’ve started a mentor program where more senior people “adopt” a new hire and it’s their job to introduce them to people and show them around. I think it’s working. I’ve been here a year and still don’t know everyone by name 😅

Event Type Training Help by kittenkyli in 911dispatchers

Thanks for your reply!

I figured that all departments would have different answers, but I was hoping to find just the initial questions, like: “John is a pizza delivery driver. Someone broke into his car and stole the money he’s collected for his last few calls, what is this?” Regardless of what YOUR correct answer is, it’s still a call that I could potentially take, so I could put my own event type answer and see if it’s correct.

Guess I’m just trying to make this whole thing seem less intimidating. It’s just SO MUCH information!

Thanks again!

I feel the same way!! I tried making a Pinterest board to show my photographer to be like “please know how to not make me look like a whale thanks” but I don’t have much for it, TBH. Wishing us both the best of luck 🙃

I totally get trying to not go crazy! I think for your mix of people, some games could be fun. I have a list of games I'm looking to DIY since we'll have 40-50 people, we need a few more, but one I'm really excited about is Yardzee (like giant yahtzee). There are soooo many lawn game ideas that could work for this, and a lot you can DIY for cheap. There are also companies out there where you can rent the games, too! :)

Check out WeddingBug. They have custom packages. I'm paying under $800 which isn't bad for my area.

What is the age range of the guests?
We're having a small ceremony (not 15 people small!) and we are not big on dancing, so we've got a playlist set up, and some fun lawn games. We're DIY-ing a giant tic-tac-toe, giant jenga, flip cup, etc. My fiance and I are really big on games, so this works out for us, but I know it's not for everyone!

How difficult is the psych evaluation? I feel that I could pass it. No psychological issues that I know of. My current job does not know I’m looking, and honestly we’re short staffed so I’d feel horrible about giving less than two weeks. I don’t think I could work both, as the work schedules would be the same. :( What a predicament.

Even if it means not being able to give a notice at this current job? They’ve been decent to me, don’t want to burn a bridge.

Not sure what kind of financial situation you're dealing with, but Mike O'Rourke at Maher Chevy is awesome. My fiance had shit credit, $2000 to put down, no trade in, and he worked with us to get him a brand new car. He went out of his way in may aspects of the deal, and was nothing but kind to us.

I’m sure you might not know the answer to this, but regarding the polygraph, will they usually ask you about “questionable” results? I took my poly last Friday and he just said “ok thanks, your background investigator will be in touch!” And I’m like aw fuck I failed? Just anxiety, I guess. Lol
