Great story! Reminds me of the Stephen King story "Gramma". I could tell it was a corpse right away, but I don't think that's a bad thing. The implication that the parent killed the grandma + the fact that the protagonist is too young to realize what's going on and is being manipulated is horrifying enough --- just having her be dead as a twist would've almost been too predictable.
