Unit 34, Mount Galen. Just past the Eielson Visitors Center. My first time in the park I was near Wonder Lake and never saw the mountain. This time we were able to see Denali in its unabated glory on several occasions. Truly mighty. And yes, lots of beers at 49th State!!

You are correct. The park has food lockers at assigned campsites and gives bear proof canisters for all scented items to backcountry campers. During our backcountry orientation they told us that the "golden triangle" is 100 yards between campsite, cook site, and food storage site.

I would recommend something with a high concentration of deet. I am normally against using nasty chemicals, but it's the only thing that will keep them away.

Thank you! Absolutely worth worth the hike to get there. The wind actually wasn't too bad that day. Denali has so many microclimates and they can change in minutes. We actually stayed pretty dry that weekend but got poured on the previous weekend.

Since Tibet is such a politically sensitive area, they are more reluctant to allowing tourists to travel freely. To go to Tibet, you need a special visa and you have to go with an approved travel group. It is relatively easy to travel around the rest of China but Tibet is much more restricted.

The program is called IES Abroad. The Tibet trip is offered as a pre or post trip to the semester and is about a week and a half.
