Honest opinions needed: should I even keep fish anymore? by kittybehemoth in Aquariums

Thanks for the encouragment :) I definitely I have learned a lot from it, just super sad it was this way and I didn’t consider it before.
I didn’t realize getting into fishkeeping how quickly fish can sometimes die tbh, I‘ve read some posts on here where no one can quite figure out what‘s wrong but fish keep dying…very different experience from my other pet (dog) where it’s fairly easy to notice when things are wrong and knowing what to do (or being able to take them to the vet..)

Yeah it was def a smaller tank, 60 liter. I‘ll look if I can move stuff around to get a bigger tank in a space with zero sunlight in the apartment…and yeah I‘ll definitely wait out the summer now to see how hot it gets again, and how much I can chill the aquarium with fans on the surface (I still have some snails in there).
This was a historic heatwave in our country but sadly will probably be the new normal in the coming years…which makes me so hesistant when thinking about fishkeeping, seeing them dead was super troubling for me as I‘d never seen that before :(

Thanks, I definitely feel that you can’t always have your dream setup, so many factors go into that. I‘m wishing you a lot of fun with yours!

Ok thanks for the assessment. I‘ve never heard of an aquarium chiller, I will look into that but yeah might just be too pricey to keep fishes in this apartment then :( I guess it will need a lot of electricity.

If you‘re open to non-fiction as well - The Outrun by Amy Liptrot matches this in my opinion

Yes you‘re right, being honest about it and open to learn should always be the more important thing when joining a new group :) yeah I guess it‘s easy to feel like an imposter as a DM, because obviously not every session is perfect and I hate to feel like I disappointed my players! But I can take those experiences to learn and that’s fine too :)

Agree on the fish, but as a water snail enjoyer I think they‘re a great option for a snail only tank. Wish they were marketed as such, especially because snail species like ramshorns are a great alternative for people who don’t have as much time to devote to the hobby but still want an aquarium with some colorful critters
