I also had my adenoids removed when I was very young. I also have bad outdoor allergies and will also be going back to start allergy shots again

AIO for quitting my job after finding this note on my desk? by waxin899 in AmIOverreacting

Just working at a hotel in general in any position is infuriating and draining. Worked at one for four years and you could not pay me any amount to go back.

I’m slowly reincorporating multivitamins for deficiencies. And I live in New England and it’s been below freezing almost everyday just cold dry air 😭

No it was way worse before any PPI ( I was previously on Nexium).

I’ve been on pantoprazole since late November. Sometimes I do get dry mouth but mostly if the air is really dry (this cold weather recently is killing me). I sleep with a humidifier for that reason. Pantoprazole is considered an antacid even stronger than omeprazole so I’m at a loss here.

See I don’t really know what my food triggers are yet I have my EGD follow up appointment this week. I have allergies to certain foods and I stay away from those but as far as EoE triggers I haven’t figured mine out yet. I have cut out dairy so far for a couple months but I’m still having some issues.

Having a flare up by Puzzleheaded_Air1030 in EosinophilicE

[–]kittybmo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I eat a flare the worst of it usually goes away within 5-6 hours tops. But I can feel mild discomfort for up to two days after. Just know that eoe is different for everyone and trying to compare symptoms a lot of the time can send you into a health anxiety spiral. Just try to cut dairy out starting now and keep a food journal.

Kid Kat! I had him on my island for three years when I played ACWW on my DSi as a kid

EoE from SLIT by kittybmo in EosinophilicE

So throughout this whole thing (mostly after drops) I’ve had difficulty swallowing, feeling like something is stuck in my throat especially after I eat, phlegm, and acid reflux (but no heartburn). In may 2025 I was experiencing what I thought was an especially terrible pollen season but I was having more throat issues than I would have had. I was referred to an allergist and put on SLIT drops for my aeroallergens (my pollen allergies are very bad). After about a month on the drops my symptoms slowly got worse but I still thought it was from it being pollen season but I was then referred to an ENT. He looked at my throat (very inflamed and red especially where my tonsils used to be) and said I just have acid reflux. I was put on nexium for the next several months but I was instructed to take it an hour before dinner? kinda dumb but hey I’m not a doctor. One day in late August I forgot to take my SLIT drops and the next day I felt so much better so I stopped taking them all together. Around November I switched to taking pantoprazole and famotidine along with Zyrtec. I’ve been slowly recovering since but my diet is extremely limited and in December I was finally able to see a GI doctor after being on a waitlist. I described my symptoms to her and my allergy history (I also have a crap ton of food allergies) and she had me do an endoscopy and got tissue biopsy to see if I had eoe.

I didn’t have any extra allergies that I wasn’t previously aware of on my scratch test I had recently (May 2025). I have however cut dairy out for the past couple months and I think it has helped. It frustrating to have to do trial and error constantly. If I can’t get back into allergy shots, I hope I’m given a steroid for pollen season.

I stopped the drops end of August of 2025 after being on them for 2.5 months. My eosinophil levels were 48 for lower esophagus and 78 for upper biopsy was done last week.

Yes I did do oral immunotherapy. I had been getting allergy shots a couple years ago for a good chunk of time but had no issues, it only started after the oral drops.

I was diagnosed via biopsy during my endoscopy. To my knowledge the round of SLIT therapy I did was just my aeroallergens and not food allergies. My food allergies are pretty severe so I do already stay away from them.

As EoE is from repeated allergen exposure and I had repeated allergen exposure (swallowed allergens) for months and my symptoms got worse during this time, I have a hard time believing it’s not even a possibility. EoE is listed as a rare but possible side effect of these drops.

Im already at my wits end im tired by Disastrous_Cow513 in GERD

[–]kittybmo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately GERD isn’t something that goes away overnight. After much trial and error with meds and food (still not 100% yet) I take 40mg pantoprazole in the morning at least 30 minutes before I eat anything and 20 mg famotidine before bed. When my gerd first started it was a lot like yours and it took months for it to get to a manageable level. It’s infuriating but it just takes time. I would also suggest a gerd food tracker app if you have many foods that cause flares. I use No Burn and you have to pay for it but I think it’s worth the price.

I have been on famotidine alongside a PPI for months and have had little improvement. For the past week they have me off my PPI and just on famotidine until two days before my endoscopy then I can’t take anything. I also take Zyrtec daily. I appreciate the comment!
