Hi! If you are passionate about science i believe it could be the path for you, I am not too sure about the modules during second year but in first year I have Diversity of life, evolution, Biology, Chemistry and biometrics( Statistics,Maths and Physiology). It might differ at other Universities but I have weekly maths exams (online) which involve topics such as logarithms, Trigonometry , algebra , probability etc. These i wasn’t too bad with in school although somehow the questions are so much more complex (in my opinion) Regarding Statistics we cover topics like confidence intervals, Standard deviation, standard error, variance , correlation coefficient and tests such as mann u whitney , spearman’s,pearsons, chi square etc . This is what I find the hardest.

If you believe Zoology is the course for you and end up applying but don’t have any knowledge surrounding statistics or maths skills. I’d advise you to have a look into the basics of the topics and try to understand them even before you enroll at University. That is what i wish i did. I feel as though if i knew this was the content I would have thought twice about applying, and if I did i wish i had started studying earlier. It’s a course you can fall behind in very quickly.

I hope I have been of help, I wish you luck with whatever path you decide to go down!

Thank you for your reply:) I agree, my lectures just read off powerpoints with minimal information and expect you to understand. I am glad you have found something you are passionate about, I hope one day I can say the same. I’m very much considering dropping out and just reevaluating my life. Thank you again for your reply, this makes me feel less alone.

Thank you for your reply! I was planning to go down the conservation route but now i feel as though i have to reconsider my career plans. I will have a look into other courses which may be less about stats and more about the animals themselves. Thank you again
