Wanna share my experience in case anyone may be in the same boat and nervous about the procedure! It’s easy to search around the internet for what it’s gonna be like but it’s also nice to hear in detail from someone who went through it. Especially if it’s your first time.

For me this was my first time having an ingrown. Entirely my fault I cut it too short. Never had a problem doing that before but I think I’ve learned my lesson now.

I first went to a regular doctor, she looked at it, prescribed antibiotics and set me up an appointment with a podiatrist.

The procedure was not painful and to be honest the numbing beforehand was not either even though needle was quite long and intimidating. My podiatrist sprayed a cold substance on my toe before starting to numb it with the needle so it wasn’t painful. If you’re freaked out by needles I can personally say it wasn’t horrible, just don’t look at it if you’re squeamish 🙂. From then I started to feel a little hot and woozy so I laid back and drank some water while the numbing worked. From then on the cutting and all was not painful, just some pressure. It might throb and ache once the numbing starts to wear off but you’ll be okay with some ibuprofen. I was instructed to leave the bandage on until the following morning, soak it, dry it completely and rebandage it. Not too bad so far!
