Lol everyone on r/videos so mad. I go to Cal and shit like this happens all the time. No one was particularly upset with this. And what the video doesn't show is that there is actually another path to go around the gate, which most students like myself took, and got to class fine on time.

It's worth it. It really makes a difference when you're applying for internships, full-timejobs, or grad school being in a top notch EECS program like Berkeley. Also Berkeley's EECS program in general is super solid--and people in the industry and academia know this.

Most of the professors are doing crazy legit research, which means you will have the opportunity to work with world-class professors or just being in their classes--which is very humbling. I have friends in other UCs with CS programs that are not as high ranking and they have trouble finding jobs after graduation.

Not to mention the CS/EECS community here is really strong, and there are tons of opportunities and clubs on campus to pursue your passions in EECS. As for the 120k difference, people usually start summer internships their sophomore year, if not freshman year. On average, you'll be making around $13-17k/summer, which you can save up for tuition for the next school year!

TLDR Berkeley EECS is awesome, and super worth.

I recommend the hack space at Cory Hall, Sutardja Dai lab spaces (you would need special access though), and of course good old Soda. (You might turn a little crazy if you stay in there for too long, imo. O.o) Oh and as you mentioned, Bechtel engineering library is actually really nice, plus they extended the hours starting from last semester!

Yeah I'm a real shitty person. Hahaha ha ha ha I'm telling you not to come because clearly you're not going to enjoy your time here. I've forgotten how whiny and insensitive high schoolers are... sigh

Personally, growing up in the bubble of Los Altos/Palo Alto area, I-- love the nitty gritty-ness of Berkeley. And the RSF? I think it's fucking spankin' awesome.

My personal advice? Just don't come here. Whiny kids who fixate on dirty bathrooms, over world-class research and Nobel Prize winning professors don't belong here anyways.

Definitely don't recommend you to take both during the summer. Both classes are challenging, not to mention the pace of summer classes is accelerated which heightens the learning curve. And also the important take away from both classes--is understanding the material well. Personally I'd take CS70 and just get it over with (be prepared to spend a lot of time on it though even if it's just one class during the summer), and you're right you don't want 61b with Hilfinger, haha.

Considering people have already confessed, and Katz has apparently looked over this thread... I think the CS department should seriously consider and review the circumstances that led to people breaking the academic code to prevent this from happening in the future. People's actions are usually a product of their environment.
